Mint arról már korábban beszámoltunk, Biden hétfőn titkos látogatást tett az ostromlott ukrán fővárosba, egyórás vonatút után érkezett meg a lengyel határtól. Újságírók szerint az amerikai elnök kijevi látogatását biztonsági okokból titokban tartották. Az amerikai elnök bejelentés nélkül hagyta el Washingtont, miután „szombat este feleségével vacsorázott egy étteremben”.
A cikkben részletezte, hogy Biden már nyilvánosan tervezte, hogy kedd reggel Varsóba érkezik kétnapos látogatásra, és a tisztségviselők többször is tagadták, hogy bármilyen terve lenne az ukrajnai utazással kapcsolatban. Mint jelezték, a Fehér Ház vasárnap este nyilvánosságra hozta Biden február 20-i, hétfői programját, amelyben az amerikai elnök még Washingtonban tartózkodik, és este indul Varsóba, „bár valójában már a fél világon túl járt”.
