Європейський Союз засуджує і вважає незаконним проведення Росією регіональних і місцевих виборів в Автономній Республіці Крим та місті Севастополь, а також у частинах Донецької, Луганської, Запорізької та Херсонської областей України в період із 8 до 10 вересня, заявив Верховний представник ЄС із закордонних справ і політики безпеки Жозеп Боррель.
У заяві, оприлюдненій у Брюсселі, Ж.Боррель наголосив, що Європейський Союз не визнає і не визнаватиме в майбутньому проведення „так званих виборів” на окупованих Росією українських територіях, а також їхніх результатів.
„Ми рішуче відкидаємо ще одну марну спробу Росії легітимізувати або нормалізувати свій незаконний військовий контроль і анексію частин української території. Це ще одне очевидне порушення міжнародного права, включаючи Статут ООН, а також незалежності, суверенітету і територіальної цілісності України”, – заявив він.
Політичне керівництво Росії, а також ті, хто брав участь і сприяв організації виборів, відповідатимуть за наслідки цих незаконних дій, – заявив він.
Боррель підкреслив, що „незаконно проведені вибори” відбулися на тлі незаконної видачі російських паспортів, насильницького викрадення українських дітей, широкомасштабних і систематичних порушень прав людини, а також залякування і посилення репресій проти українських громадян на тимчасово окупованих територіях України з боку Росії і незаконно призначеної російської влади.
Він заявив, що Росія повинна негайно, повністю і беззастережно вивести свої війська і військову техніку з усієї території України за межі її міжнародно визнаних кордонів.
„Європейський Союз закликає Росію дотримуватися своїх міжнародних зобов’язань щодо прав людини та основних свобод і скасувати своє репресивне законодавство”, – додав глава дипломатії ЄС у своїй заяві.
