У п’ятницю Палата представників проголосувала за ухвалення законопроекту демократів про охорону здоров’я, енергетику та клімат на суму 750 мільярдів доларів.
Остаточне голосування зафіксувало 220 проти 207 голосів. Четверо республіканців не голосували.
Тепер, коли контрольована демократами Палата представників схвалила законопроект, його передадуть Байдену на підпис.
Президент вже привітав ухвалення закону і подякував демократам.
Остаточне ухвалення законопроекту знаменує собою віху для демократів і дає партії шанс досягти довгоочікуваних політичних цілей напередодні майбутніх проміжних виборів. Це відбувається в критичний момент, коли демократи борються за збереження контролю над крихкою більшістю в Конгресі.
Широкомасштабний законопроект під назвою «Закон про зниження інфляції» стане найбільшою кліматичною інвестицією в історії США та внесе значні зміни в політику охорони здоров’я.
Його дія дозволить залучити понад $700 мільярдів державних доходів протягом 10 років і витратити понад $430 мільярдів на скорочення викидів вуглекислого газу та розширення субсидій на медичне страхування.
Зокрема, законопроект передбачає надання американцям податкового кредиту у розмірі до 7500 доларів при покупці електромобіля, а також знижку у розмірі 30% на встановлення сонячних батарей.
Також планується виділити мільйони доларів на допомогу у захисті та збереженні лісів, які останніми роками все більше страждають від лісових пожеж, і видати пільгові кредити деяким із найбільш забруднюючих довкілля підприємств, щоб допомогти їм перейти на більш екологічне виробництво.
Крім того, документ передбачає скорочення дефіциту федерального бюджету.
Всі ці заходи, за задумом влади, дозволять знизити інфляцію у країні.
Палата представників прийняла закон після того, як його ухвалили в Сенаті після 27-годинного марафону голосувань за поправки.
У Сенаті законопроект був прийнятий голосуванням 51 проти 50, вирішальний голос мала віце-президент Камала Харріс.
