Oroszország néhány napon belül megindíthatja az inváziót Ukrajna ellen, és Kijev ebben az esetben két nap leforgása alatt eleshet – írta a The Washington Post című amerikai lap vasárnap, adta hírül a strana.news hírportál.
A jelentés szerint a kiadványt a forrásai arról tájékoztatják, hogy „Oroszország egyenként körülbelül 750 katonából álló 83 zászlóalj-harci csoportot készített fel egy esetleges támadásra.” A lap állítása szerint ez körülbelül 70%-a az invázióhoz szükséges csapatok számának.
Az újság szerint Oroszország közel áll egy nagyszabású Ukrajna elleni invázió előkészítésének befejezéséhez, amely „akár 50 000 civil halálát vagy sebesülését is okozhatja, és két napon belül lefejezheti a kijevi kormányt, és humanitárius válságot válthat ki, amely akár 5 millió menekültet is eredményezhet.”
A The Washington Post szerint az Ukrajna elleni orosz invázió lehet a legnagyobb szárazföldi támadás Európában a második világháború óta, és valószínűleg az elmúlt 75 év legsúlyosabb problémáját jelenti majd az Egyesült Államok által felügyelt második világháború utáni nemzetközi rend számára.
