Kína londoni nagykövetsége figyelmeztette a G7 vezetőit, hogy már régen elmúltak azok az idők, amikor országok kis csoportjai döntöttek a világ sorsáról, számol be a BBC. Az Angliában ülésező politikusok ugyanis egységes álláspontot alakítanak ki Kínával kapcsolatban, Joe Biden amerikai elnök is eltökélt abban, hogy a nyugati hatalmaknak most kell fellépniük az egyre erősebb Kína ellen.
A G7 vezetői több pénzügyi támogatást ígérnek a klímaválság sújtotta fejlődő országoknak, illetve nagy összegekkel támogatják ezen országok infrastrukturális projektjeit, ami válasz lenne a kínai hasonló tervre. Az Egyesült Államok által támogatott Build Back Better World (Építsük vissza a jobb világot) terv a pekingi Selyemút jobb minőségű alternatívája lenne a tervek szerint, többek között azért, mert átlátható lenne és partnerként kezelné a résztvevő országokat.
A londoni kínai nagykövetség úgy fogalmaz, hogy az országok – legyenek azok nagyok vagy kicsik, erősek vagy gyengék, szegények vagy gazdagok – egyenlőek, és hogy a világ ügyeit minden országnak konzultáció útján kell intéznie.
