A litván Szejm képviselői heves viták után támogatták a prémeket tenyésztő farmok 2027-től való betiltását az országban – számol be az LRT, tájékoztatott a Jevropejszka Pravda. Az utolsó szavazáson 68 igen szavazattal támogatták a prémek előállítása céljából való állattartás tilalmát, 25 képviselő nemmel szavazott, 15 pedig tartózkodott.
A lépés ellenzői ragaszkodtak ahhoz, hogy ez igazságtalan a gazdákkal szemben, és a „csirkék, sőt növények” termesztésének betiltásához vezethet.
A támogatók azzal érveltek, hogy a mai világban be kell tiltani azokat a vállalkozásokat, amelyek szenvedést okoznak az állatoknak, és nem alapszükségleti cikkeket, hanem luxust biztosítanak az embereknek. A képviselők példákat hoztak fel olyan jól ismert márkákra, amelyek elutasították a prémek alkalmazását.
A teljes tilalom 2027-ben lép életbe. 2024-től 2026-ig lesz egy átmeneti időszak, amikor a gazdáknak be kell zárniuk vállalkozásaikat és kártérítést kell kérniük. Ha ez már 2024-ben megtörténik, az állomány minden egyes állata után 3 euró lesz a kártérítés, ha pedig az utolsóban – 1 euró.
A gazdáknak támogatást ígértek az elbocsátott dolgozók kifizetésében, valamint az épületbontás és a hulladékelhelyezés költségeiben is.
Az iparág képviselői szerint az ilyen összegű kártérítés egyenlő a semmivel, és bíróságon fognak fellebbezni az új törvény ellen.
