Olaf Scholz német kancellár tűzszünetet és politikai rendezést sürgetett hétfőn a Hamász palesztin iszlamista terrorszervezet tavaly október 7-én Izrael ellen elkövetett terrortámadásának az évfordulóján.
„Kedves barátaink Izraelben, együtt érzünk veletek (…), a ti oldalatokon állunk” – jelentette ki a német kancellár egy hamburgi konferencia megnyitóján.
A szociáldemokrata politikus mindemellett szóvá tette a palesztin lakosság szenvedését is a Gázai övezetben egy éve dúló háború kapcsán. „Az erőszak és éhség napi szintű magtapasztalása nem olyan alap, amelyből valami jó fakadhatna” – figyelmeztetett Scholz. Hangsúlyozta: az embereknek reményre, illetve jövőképre van szükségük.
„A német szövetségi kormány ezért szorgalmazza a tűzszünetet, a túszok elengedését valamint a politikai folyamatot, amely ma messzebb került, mint valaha” – mondta Scholz. Kiemelte, hogy számára e folyamat végén csakis egy kétállami megoldás állhat, aminek keretében „izraeliek és palesztinok tartósan békében élhetnek egymás mellett”. Ez azonban csakis akkor működhet, ha sikerül elejét venni a teljes térség lángba borulásának – tette hozzá Scholz, és követelte, hogy Irán és szövetségesei, köztük a libanoni Hezbollah milícia hagyjanak fel az Izrael elleni támadásokkal.
