„Semmilyen jogi erővel nem bírna és elítélésre lenne érdemes, ha döntés születne az ukrajnai Donyeck, Luhanszk, Herszon és Zaporizzsja régiók elcsatolásáról” – húzta alá Guterres újságíróknak nyilatkozva.
Felhívta a figyelmet arra is, hogy ez a folyamat összeegyeztethetetlen „a nemzetközi jogi keretekkel”. „Nincs keresnivalója a mai világunkban. Elfogadhatatlan” – emelte ki.
„Még jobban kockára tenné a béke kilátásait, ha Oroszország úgy döntene, hogy belevág ebbe” – mondta az ENSZ-főtitkár.
„Mindez csak el fogja húzni a globális gazdaságra, különösen a fejlődő államokra gyakorolt drámai hatásokat, és akadályozni fogja lehetőségeinket, hogy életmentő segélyeket szállíthassunk Ukrajna-szerte és azon túl is” – mondta az ENSZ vezető tisztségviselője.

Az Egyesült Államok nem ellenzi, hogy Ukrajna nyugati fegyverekkel foglalja vissza azokat a területeit, amelyeken Oroszország álreferendumokat tartott – jelentette be Antony Blinken amerikai külügyminiszter keddi sajtótájékoztatóján, számolt be az Ukrajinszka Pravda hírportál.
A tudósítás szerint az amerikai külügyminiszter újságírói kérdésre válaszolt, miszerint az Egyesült Államok beleegyezik-e abba, hogy az ukrán fegyveres erők amerikai fegyvereket alkalmazzanak azokon a területeken, ahol Oroszország álnépszavazást tartott, függetlenül a Kreml által bejelentett eredménytől. Mint Blinken hangsúlyozta, „mi és sok más ország már nagyon világosan megfogalmaztuk: nem ismerjük el, sőt, soha nem is fogjuk elismerni az ukrán területek Oroszország általi annektálását. Ukrajnának abszolút joga van megvédeni magát egész területén, különösen visszafoglalni az Oroszország által illegálisan megszállt területeket így vagy úgy.”
Az amerikai diplomácia vezetőjének elmondása szerint az Egyesült Államok és sok más ország által Ukrajnának szállított fegyvereket nagyon hatékonyan használták a területek visszafoglalására, különösen az utóbbi időben északkeleten, de délen is. Egyúttal hangsúlyozta, hogy az álreferendumok semmit nem változtatnak az Oroszország által elfoglalt ukrán területeken. „Az ukránok továbbra is megteszik, amit kell, hogy visszaszerezzék a tőlük elvett földet. Továbbra is támogatjuk őket ezekben az erőfeszítéseikben” – mutatott rá Antony Blinken.
