 A jelentés szerint az energiaügyi miniszter az ukrán televízió non-stop háborús adásában elmondta, hogy szeptember 10-én az Enerhoatom először kapott üzemanyagot az USA-ból a 440 reaktorhoz. A nukleáris üzemanyagot a Westinghouse cég állította elő ukrán szakemberekkel közösen – tette hozzá. „Továbbra is azon fogunk dolgozni, hogy az Oroszországi Föderációt teljesen leváltsuk ebben a szegmensben. Vannak már megállapodások bizonyos országokkal” – emlékeztetett Herman Haluscsenko.
 A Westinghouse Electric Company Ukraine 2025-re tervezte az üzemanyag átvételét, de a háború miatt a folyamat felgyorsult. Így az Enerhoatom lett a világon az első olyan vállalat, amely lecserélte az orosz nukleáris fűtőanyagot a szovjet VVER–1000 reaktorokban.
