Donald Trump azt tervezi, hogy Gorka Sebestyént, a Londonban született, magyar származású korábbi tanácsadóját fogja kinevezni a Nemzetbiztonsági Oktatási Tanács tagjává – írja a CNN.
A Nemzetbiztonsági Oktatási Tanács egy 14 fős testület, ami egy olyan kormányzati programot (NSEP) felügyel, amely egyetemistáknak ad ösztöndíjakat, valamint egyetemeknek és főiskoláknak nyújt támogatást ahhoz, hogy stratégiailag fontos nyelveket és regionális ismereteket oktassanak. Küldetésnyilatkozata szerint az NSEP célja, hogy növelje azoknak a számát, akik később fontos nemzetbiztonsági pozíciókra jelentkezhetnek az USA kormányánál.
A bizottság hat tagját maga az elnök jelöli ki.
Gorka 2017-ben egy héttel azután távozott a Fehér Házban betöltött tanácsadói pozíciójából, hogy patrónusa, Trump főstratégája, a korábban a Breitbart nevű alt-right portált irányító Steve Bannon lemondott. Távozásakor azt közölték, hogy Gorka Sebestyén nem mondott le, de megerősítették, hogy többé nem dolgozik a Fehér Házban, a magyar származású tanácsadó viszont ragaszkodott hozzá, hogy nem rúgták ki.
