Németország és Litvánia aláírta a megállapodást arról, hogy a balti országban egy német dandár állomásozzon – közölte Berlinben pénteken Boris Pistorius német védelmi miniszter és litván kollégája, Laurynas Kasciunas.
A dokumentum egy korábbi NATO-megállapodást bővít, és meghatározza a német katonák és polgári alkalmazottak jogállását Litvániában. A német dandár várhatóan 2027-re lesz működőképes, és legfeljebb ötezer katonából áll, jelenléte állandó lesz. A tervek szerint Rudninkaiban, a fővárostól, Vilniustól délre, illetve Ruklában, Vilniustól északnyugatra állomásozik majd.
A német hadsereg tájékoztatása szerint egy mintegy 20 katonából álló előőrs áprilisban érkezett Litvániába, és további mintegy 120 katona érkezése október elejére várható. A megállapodás kiterjed a tartózkodási és adójogi státuszra, az iskoláztatásra, a közegészségügyi ellátásra és egyéb szempontokra.
