A NATO-nak többet kellene tennie a közös biztonságért, hogy megvédhesse magát Oroszországgal és Vlagyimir Putyin orosz elnökkel szemben – mondta Christine Lambrecht Litvániában.
A német védelmi miniszter azért utazott a balti országba, hogy felavassa a NATO-fronthadtest főhadiszállását.
Az 5000 fős gyorsreagálású erő nem marad Litvániában, hanem állandó készenlétben lesz.
„Ez a Litvániához rendelt dandár tíz napon belül áttelepíthető. Tíz napon belül” – mondta Arvydas Anusauskas litván védelmi miniszter. „Ez nagyon gyors. Emlékezzünk arra, hogy Ukrajna esetében az orosz erők határ mentén való összevonásáról szóló információk csaknem 90 napig ismertek voltak.”
A német gyalogos zászlóalj közös hadgyakorlatot tart a litván erőkkel. Lambrecht litván kollégájával szemlélte meg a műveletet.
A NATO azt tervezi, hogy az következő években több ilyen frontintervenciós pontot hoz létre az orosz katonai fenyegetéssel szemben.
