Rusztem Umerov ukrán védelmi miniszter és helyettese, Ivan Gavriljuk altábornagy találkozott a svéd hadsereg főparancsnokával, Mikael Büdennel, akivel, többek közt, svéd Gripen vadászgépek átadásáról tárgyaltak.
Gavriljuk a találkozó után azt mondta, hogy a gépek átadásával kapcsolatban „gyümölcsöző munkát” folytatnak svéd partereikkel. Megjegyezte azt is, hogy e téren vannak bizonyos, a NATO-hoz köthető problémák, de bízik benne, hogy ezeket sikerül leküzdeni, és Ukrajna hozzájut a repülőkhöz.
Mikael Büden ezzel összefüggésben azt mondta, hogy a Gripenek átadásáról a katonai és a politikai vezetés egyaránt tárgyal, és most a politikai döntésekre várnak.
