Április elején Dánia menesztette Flemming Lentfter vezérkari főnököt, miután a múlt hónapban egy Vörös-tengeren állomásozó dán fregatt elleni támadás során nem jelentett egy meghibásodott fegyverrendszert, és helyére Michael Viggers Gildgaard került.
Szirszkij elmondása szerint találkozójuk során megvitatták Ukrajna fegyveres erőinek sürgős szükségleteit, valamint a dán kormány további támogatásának lehetőségeit.
Ukrajna fegyveres erőinek főparancsnoka azt is hangsúlyozta, hogy a NATO egyik alapító tagjával, Dániával való partnerség továbbra is jelentős támogatást jelent Kijev számára.
A közelmúltban a dán kormány mintegy 300 millió eurós katonai támogatási csomagot jelentett be Ukrajnának, amelyből többek között lőszert, drónokat és rakétaalkatrészeket vásárolnak.
