Az Európai Bizottság elnöke felszólította a világot, hogy gondoskodjon Ukrajna újjáépítéséről. Az Ukrajna jövőjéről szóló berlini nemzetközi szakértői konferencián a német kancellár „generációs feladatról” beszélt.
Milliárdokra van szükség Ukrajna újjáépítéséhez, ezért Olaf Scholz kancellár még a háború befejezése előtt egy „Marshall-terv” létrehozása mellett foglalt állást. Ez „generációs feladat, amelyet most kell elkezdeni” – mondta Scholz Berlinben, az Ukrajna újjáépítéséről szóló nemzetközi konferencián.
Scholz ismét támogatást ígért Ukrajnának, amíg csak szükséges:
A szabadságért, függetlenségért és szuverenitásért folytatott harcában Ukrajna nincs egyedül.
A konferencia célja az, hogy megtaláljuk a módját az ország jövője alakításának, „nemcsak az elkövetkező hónapokra, hanem az elkövetkező évekre”. A kihívás megoldásához szerinte a magán- és az állami befektetőket is világszerte össze kell hozni.
Ursula von der Leyen is globális erőfeszítéseket sürgetett Ukrajna újjáépítésére. „Nincs vesztegetni való idő, a pusztítás mértéke jelentős” – mondta a konferencián a Bizottság elnöke. Egyetlen ország vagy szövetség sem tudna egyedül megbirkózni ezzel; erős partnerekre van szókség, mint az Egyesült Államok, Kanada, Japán, Nagy-Britannia, Ausztrália, valamint olyan intézményekre, mint a Világbank.
„Minden euró, minden dollár, minden font, minden jen befektetés Ukrajnába, de a demokratikus értékekbe is világszerte” – jelentette ki von der Leyen, aki egyébként „terrorcselekményeknek” nevezte az ukrán polgári infrastruktúra elleni orosz támadásokat.
„Milliárdokra van szükség az újjáépítéshez. Házak ezrei, iskolák, hidak, utak, erőművek és vasútállomások semmisültek meg. Sok ukrán számára az a lényeg, hogy télen meleg otthonuk legyen” – mondta von der Leyen, hangsúlyozva, hogy az infrastruktúra újjáépítését be kell építeni Ukrajna EU-ba történő integrációjába.
