Az Európai Unió 500 millió eurót tud elkülöníteni 155 mm-es kaliberű lőszerek gyártására, amelyeket a továbbiakban Ukrajnának adnak át – jelentette be Mairead McGuinness, a pénzügyi szolgáltatásokért, a pénzügyi stabilitásért és a tőkepiacokért felelős európai biztos.
„Az EU iparában rejlő potenciál a 155 mm-es lőszergyártás terén továbbra is jelentős, és ezt mindenképpen ki kell használni” – mondta.
Az európai biztos elmondása szerint most minden lehetőséget mérlegelnek, szükség esetén az uniós költségvetés felhasználását is.
„A közelmúltban vitára bocsátottunk egy dokumentumot, amely az európai védelmi ipar közbeszerzéseken keresztüli megerősítését célozza meg. Ennek értelmében rövid távon 500 millió eurót lehet felhasználni a szükséges lőszerek gyártásának felgyorsítására” – közölte McGuinness.
Hangsúlyozták, hogy az Európai Bizottság készen áll a magáncégek forrásait is bevonni a lőszergyártás volumenének növelése érdekében.
