„Ha Brüsszelben valakinek eszébe jut, hogy megvonja az Olaszországot megillető pénzeket, mondjuk mert a Liga nyer a választásokon, akkor újra kellene gondolnunk ezt az Európát – amelytől én védelmet várok, nem pedig szégyenletes fenyegetéseket” – szögezte le a jobboldali politikus, hozzátéve: az EU „nem ad senkinek semmit, ellenkezőleg, az évek során az olaszok százmilliárd eurót adtak Brüsszel kasszájába, tiszteletet kérünk”.
