A Le Canard Enchaine nevű francia újság szerint Emmanuel Macron francia elnök múlt szerdai horvátországi látogatása során bohócnak nevezte Boris Johnson brit miniszterelnököt, órákkal azután, hogy 27 ember fulladt bele a La Manche csatornába – írja a Sky News. A két ország között egyre nagyobb a feszültség a migránsválság kezelése miatt, a francia elnök megjegyzése pedig tovább fokozhatja a diplomáciai válságot.
A francia elnök szerint felnőtt beszélgetéseket folytatnak, de előtte és utána úgy látja, hogy a brit miniszterelnök nem viselkedik elegánsan, „mindig ugyanaz a cirkusz” megy.
Szomorú látni, hogy egy ilyen nagyszerű országot, amellyel közösen sok mindent elérhetnénk, egy bohóc vezeti – tette hozzá állítólag Macron.
A brit munka- és nyugdíjügyi miniszter, Therese Coffey azt mondta, hogy „meglepődött” és „csalódott” Macron megjegyzései miatt. A kiszivárgó mondat azután jelent meg, hogy a Downing Street 10 közölte, Johnson és Macron szoros munkakapcsolatot ápol.
A miniszterelnök hivatalos szóvivőjét azután kérdezték meg kettejük kapcsolatáról, miután Sylvie Bermann volt francia nagykövet a Times Radio-ban azzal viccelődött, hogy Waterloo óta nem voltak ilyen rossz a kapcsolat a két ország között.
A két ország között egyre nagyobb feszültséget jelent az egyet nem értés abban, hogy miként lehetne a legjobban kezelni a La Manche – csatornánál lévő migránsválságot.
A Downing Street továbbra is ragaszkodik a migránsok visszafordításához, amelyet Boris Johnson Emmanuel Macron francia elnöknek írt múlt heti levelében fogalmazott meg. A brit kormány szerint ez lenne az elrettentés egyedüli és legjobb módja a tengeri utat megkísérlő migránsok számára.
Franciaországot annyira feldühítette a lépés, hogy visszavonta az Egyesült Királyság meghívását arra, hogy csatlakozzon a hétvégi tárgyalásokhoz más európai miniszterekkel a Doveri-szoroson átkelő emberáradat megfékezésével kapcsolatban.
Az Európai Unióval kötött visszafordítási és visszafogadási megállapodás lehetővé tenné az Egyesült Királyság számára, hogy visszaküldje az embereket abba a tagállamba, ahonnan elindultak – így például Franciaországba –, ha a menedékkérelmüket a Nagy-Britanniába érkezésük után elutasítják.

Pedig – a Guardian cikke szerint – Priti Patel is a meghívottak között volt a franciák által kezdeményezett calaisi találkozóra, ám Boris Johnson brit miniszterelnök Emmanuel Macron francia elnöknek küldött levelét követően ezt a meghívást visszavonták.
Johnson levelében – mely sajtóhírek szerint azelőtt kikerült Twitter-oldára, hogy Macron ténylegesen kézhez kapta volna – a francia elnök szerint „komolytalan” felvetésekkel él, köztük, hogy a La Manche-on átkelő migránsokat automatikusan küldjék vissza Franciaországba. A brexit utáni halászati szabályozásokról és az Egyesült Királyság és az EU közti egyéb viszonyokról szóló viták kapcsán egyébként is mélyponton lévő brit–francia kapcsolatokon tovább rontott a csatornán most tragédiába fulladt migrációs krízis.

A La Manche csatorna miatt Nagy-Britannia rá van utalva a francia hatóságokra – mondta Boris Johnson brit kormányfő.
Nagy-Britannia rá van utalva Franciaországra az illegális migráció elleni küzdelemben – jelentette ki szerdán Boris Johnson brit kormányfő a londoni parlamentben tartott beszédében.
„Nagyban függünk attól, mit tesznek a franciák” – fogalmazott a miniszterelnök. „Ennek ellenére minden lehetséges rendelkezésünkre álló taktikát bevetünk, megakadályozva ezzel a migránsok átkelését a La Manche csatornán.”
A kedvező időjárási viszonyok miatt az utóbbi napokban ismét megnőtt az átkelési próbálkozások száma a forgalmas vízi úton Franciaország és Nagy-Britannia között.
A brit belügyminisztérium szerint csak hétfőn 785 migráns kelt át kis csónakokkal. A napi rekord augusztusban volt, amikor 828 illegális bevándorlót számláltak. A BBC brit közszolgálati média összesítése azt mutatja, hogy az év eleje óta több mint 13 ezer illegális migráns érkezett ezen az útvonalon az Egyesült Királyságba.
Egy francia politikus szerint nem lehet megakadályozni a migránsok átkelését, mivel a rendőrség egyszerűen képtelen Franciaország teljes partvonalát ellenőrizni.
„Semmi sem állíthatja meg őket” – szögezte le a BBC Radio 4 Today című műsorában Pierre-Henri Dumont, Calais kikötőváros képviselője a francia nemzetgyűlésben.
„300–400 kilométer partvidéket kell megfigyelnünk éjjel-nappal, és a part hosszúsága miatt szinte lehetetlen százméterenként odaállítani egy rendőrt” – jelentette ki Dumont. Mint mondta, a melegebb időjárás a fő oka az átkelések nagy számának, de számos egyéb ok is van, amelyet szerinte kezelni kell. Többek között az, hogy a migránsok nagyobb valószínűséggel beszélnek angolul, és könnyebb munkát találniuk Nagy-Britanniában, annak ellenére, hogy illegálisan tartózkodnak az országban.

A Brexit következményeinek témája nem hagyja el a sajtó címoldalait nemcsak Nagy-Britanniában, hanem az Európai Unióban és az egész világon. Szinte minden héten kialakul kellemetlen helyzet vagy előre nem látható konfliktus, kétoldalú félreértés az Egyesült Királyság és az EU között.
Az Egyesült Királyság két járőrhajót irányít a La Manche csatornán található Jeep brit szigetekre, jelentette be május 6-án a BBC Boris Johnson brit miniszterelnök hivatalos nyilatkozatára hivatkozva.
A Normandiai-szigeteken való halászati engedélyről van szó, mivel a Brexitet követően Nagy-Britannia megváltoztatta a halászati szabályokat a térségben. Ez a kérdés a múlt évi tárgyalások egyik „buktatója” volt, és akkor úgy tűnt, hogy mindkét oldal az utolsó pillanatban megállapodott. De valószínűleg csak úgy tűnt…
Franciaország a maga részéről már elégedetlenségének adott hangot, és azzal fenyegetett, hogy válaszként lekapcsolja a sziget energiaellátását, ami a brit kormányt megfelelő reakcióra késztette. Ezért „minden esetre” HMS Severn és HMS Tamar járőrhajókat irányítottak a Jersey szigetre.
Ami a konfliktus okát illeti, az azzal kezdődött, hogy a sziget hatóságai a francia halászoktól megerősítését követelték annak, hogy korábban már halásztak ebben a térségben. A Jersey vezetése pedig az EU és Nagy-Britannia közötti problémás kereskedelmi és együttműködési megállapodásra hivatkozott.
Ugyanakkor Franciaország kijelentette, hogy ezek valamilyen „új technikai intézkedések”, és ragaszkodik ahhoz, hogy ezek a követelmények teljesen törvénytelenek.
Annic Gerarden, Franciaország tengerügyi minisztere korábban kijelentette, hogy a francia halászhajókra vonatkozó esetleges korlátozások Jersey szigetén sértik Nagy-Britannia az EU-ból való kilépéséről szóló megállapodás feltételeit. Ezután a az áram lekapcsolásával fenyegetett, mivel a sziget 95%-ban Franciaország területéről kapja az áramot.
Az Egyesült Királyság, tudván, hogy mindez hová vezethet, már bejelentette, hogy a vitás kérdés diplomáciai megoldást igényel. „A miniszterelnök (Boris Johnson) kijelentette, hogy enyhíteni kell a feszültségeket, és ki kell terjeszteni a Jersey és Franciaország kormánya közötti párbeszédet a halászati zónához való hozzáférésről.”
„A miniszterelnök támogatásáról biztosította Jersey-t és kihangsúlyozta, hogy bármilyen blokád abszolút jogellenesnek minősül” – összegezte a brit kormány képviselője az újságírókkal való találkozón.
