Az Egyesült Államok „minden használható és megfelelő eszközt be fog vetni, hogy leleplezze, szembeszálljon és ellensúlyozza Irán Oroszországnak történő fegyverellátását – mondta kedden Ned Price külügyminisztériumi szóvivő.
A tisztviselő közölte, hogy az Egyesült Államok „már hónapok óta célba vette Irán UAV pilóta nélküli légi járműveinek terjesztési hálózatait, és mindig megvizsgáljuk azokat a célpontokat, amelyek alkalmasak lehetnek válaszlépésre, szankciókra, vagy pénzügyi intézkedésekre”.
Aggódunk amiatt, hogy Oroszország arra is törekedhet, hogy fejlett hagyományos fegyvereket szerezzen be Irántól, például felszíni rakétákat, amelyeket szinte biztosan Oroszország Ukrajna elleni háborújának támogatására használnak majd – idézte a CNN Ned Price. Hozzátette, hogy az Egyesült Államok „erőteljesen” érvényesíteni fogja mind az orosz, mind az iráni fegyverkereskedelemre vonatkozó összes szankciót, „hogy megnehezítse Irán számára fegyvereladásokat Oroszországnak”.
