Ukrajnán nem segítenének a brit tankok, mert hosszú időbe telne, amíg kiképeznék a kezelőszemélyzetet – jelentett ki Ben Wallace brit védelmi miniszter, adta hírül vasárnap az rbc.ua hírportál a Daily Mail című brit lapra hivatkozva.
A jelentés szerint Wallace felhívta a figyelmet arra, hogy hosszú időbe telik a fegyverrendszerek fejlesztéséhez és az új fegyverek használatához szükséges képzés. De egyúttal megerősítette a Starstreak típusú légvédelmi rakéták átadását Ukrajnának.
A miniszter úgy vélte, hogy a hangsúlyt az ukránoknak nyújtott támogatást tekintve a náluk már meglévő orosz vagy szovjet fegyverek fejlesztésére vagy megtalálására kell helyezni. „Brit tankok szállítása nem igazán fog menni” – mutatott rá Ben Wallace.
Mint hírportálunk beszámolt róla, Volodimir Zelenszkij ukrán elnök a csütörtöki NATO-csúcstalálkozóhoz intézett videobeszédében fegyvereket kért az Észak-atlanti Szövetségtől, a többi között repülőgépeinek és tankjainak egy-egy százalékát.
Pénteken azt is megírtuk, hogy az amerikai Forbes magazin által megszólaltatott szakértők szerint az ukrán fegyveres erőknek több tankja van, mint amennyi a háború elején volt, annyit zsákmányolt az orosz hadseregtől. Mint a szakemberek állították, a február 24-i orosz invázió után Ukrajna 74 tankot veszített, ugyanakkor ezzel egy időben az ukrán fegyveres erők legalább 117 orosz harckocsit zsákmányoltak.
