A jelentés szerint Boris Johnson, Nagy-Britannia miniszterelnöke azt mondta minisztereinek, hogy fegyvereket akar adni Ukrajnának, hogy megakadályozza, hogy az orosz hadsereg megtámadja Odesszát. Szerinte ez megegyezik azzal, ahogy brit páncéltörő rakétákkal próbálják megállítani Putyin Kijev elfoglalására irányuló kísérleteit.
A hírportál emlékeztetett arra, hogy Nagy-Britannia 30 páncélozott mentőautót küld Ukrajnába. A járművek fele a jövő hét elején érkezik meg az országba.

Ukrajna rakétafegyvereket kap az Egyesült Királyságtól, hogy szembe tudjon szállni Oroszországgal a Fekete- és Azovi-tengeren – jelentette be Vadim Prisztajko, Ukrajna londoni nagykövete egy rádióinterjúban, adta hírül az rbc.ua hírportál.
A jelentés szerint a diplomata a Novoje Vremja rádiónak nyilatkozva elmondta, „Nagy-Britannia barátokat keres, Ukrajna pedig elvileg alkalmas erre a szerepre. Annak ellenére, hogy az országunkkal való barátság problémákat okoz, elsősorban az Oroszországgal fennálló konfrontáció miatt, Nagy-Britannia készen áll egy ilyen lépésre.”
A nagykövet szerint Ukrajna támogatásának a megnyilvánulása Nagy-Britannia részéről a fegyverszállítás. Mint megjegyezte, a felek már 2 milliárd dollár értékű katonai megállapodást írtak alá. Elmondása szerint a megállapodások négy konkrét projekt megvalósítását írják elő. Az egyik két hajó építése Skóciában, amelyeket az ukrán hadsereg igényeinek megfelelően alakítanak át. Ezenkívül először a brit, majd az ukrán hajógyárakban építenek hajókat. „Ebbe a körbe tartoznak a rakétafegyverek. Fegyveres erőink először kapnak valódi fegyvereket, rakétákat, amelyek lehetővé teszik, hogy szembeszálljunk Oroszországgal a Fekete- és Azovi-tengeren” – mutatott rá Vadim Prisztajko.
