Az Európai Unió tagállamai legalább 2 milliárd euróval kívánják növelni az Ukrajnába irányuló fegyverszállítást finanszírozó alapjukat – adta hírül csütörtökön az rbc.ua hírportál a Bloomberg amerikai hírügynökségre hivatkozva.
A hírügynökség forrásai szerint az alapnövelésnek a jövő héten kell megtörténnie. Az Európai Békealap, amelynek jelenleg mintegy 6 milliárd eurós kerete van, megtéríti a kormányoknak az Ukrajnának szánt katonai szállításokat, de más országok támogatására is felhasználják.
„Az alap több mint felét Ukrajnának nyújtott katonai támogatásokra különítették el, de a tagországok további támogatást látnak szükségesnek” – írta a hírszolgálat. A szakértői szerint 2 milliárd eurós emelést hagyhatnak jóvá az uniós külügyminiszterek a december 12-i brüsszeli tanácskozásukon.
„Amennyiben azonban ha addig nem zárul le a kérdés megvitatása, az uniós vezetők ezt a kérdést később mérlegelhetik. A lényeg, hogy a javaslathoz minden tagállam egyhangú jóváhagyása szükséges” – jegyezte meg a hírügynökség. Egyúttal hozzátette, hogy elemzők szerint később még több pénzzel töltik majd fel az alapot.
