Mint az ukrán diplomácia vezetője kifejtette: „Mit várunk a vilniusi csúcstalálkozótól? Ez egy jelentős lépés a tagság felé. Mindannyian megértjük, hogy a NATO nem a háború befejezésének eszköze, a NATO egy eszköz a további háborúk megakadályozására. De elfogadhatatlan, ha nem történik semmilyen elmozdulás Ukrajna tagságával kapcsolatban (a NATO-ban – a szerk.).”
Dmitro Kuleba hozzátette: Ukrajna „egyértelmű lépést vár a tagság felé” a vilniusi csúcstalálkozótól, de magára a NATO-tagságra nyilván később kerül sor.
A hírportál emlékeztetett arra, hogy Ukrajna a háború megnyerése után csatlakozhat a NATO-hoz. Most azonban Ukrajna szeretne meghívást kapni, hogy csatlakozzon a szövetséghez. Emellett Ukrajna arra számít, hogy a NATO világos algoritmust kínál majd a szövetséghez való csatlakozás felé. Ezenkívül a legközelebbi NATO-csúcson Ukrajnának egyértelmű csatlakozási feltételeket kell kapnia
