David Wolfson szerdán jelentette be, hogy lemond az igazságügyi miniszteri posztjáról a Covid-szabályok megsértése miatt – írja a Sky News. Lord Wolfson Boris Johnsonnak írt levelében kijelentette, hogy nem csak az események, a miniszterelnök „magatartása” miatt mond le, hanem „a történtekre adott hivatalos válasz miatt” is. Hozzátette: „miniszteri és szakmai kötelezettségeire” tekintettel „nincs más lehetősége” a lemondáson kívül.
Ő az első kormánytag, aki távozott, mióta a lezárások alatti partikról szóló hírek megjelentek. Lord Wolfson 2020 decembere óta igazságügyi miniszter.
Mint ismert, a miniszterelnök, a felesége Carrie és Rishi Sunak pénzügyminiszter is pénzbírságot kaptak azért, mert 2020 júniusában születésnapi partit tartottak a Downing Streeten.
