Törökország sem akar háborút, de figyelmeztette az országokat, hogy ne engedjenek át hadihajókat a szorosokon, és minden joguk megvan erre.
Törökország újabban arra figyelmeztette az országokat, hogy ne engedjenek át hadihajókat a Boszporusz és a Dardanellák szorosán, miközben Ukrajnában továbbra is invázió zajlik.
Erről a török külügyminisztérium adott tájékoztatást, hozzátéve, hogy az 1936-ban rögzített Montreux-i egyezmény lehetővé teszi, hogy Törökország háborús időszakban korlátozó erővel lépjen fel a szorosokon való átkelés kapcsán.
Ugyanakkor van egy záradék, ami beregisztrált bázisukra visszatérő hajókat mentesíti ez alól, és időközben eleget is tettek az egyezménynek. Az Anadolu állami hírügynökség szerint ettől a ponttól kezdve így fognak eljárni, és egyelőre egy átkelési kérelem sem érkezett hozzájuk. A Sky News szerint legalább négy orosz fenségjelzésű hajó vár Törökország döntésére, hogy átkelhessenek a Földközi-tengeren.

Törökország meg fogja akadályozni az orosz hadihajók áthaladását a Fekete-tengeren – írja a The Guardian Zelenszkij ukrán elnök tájékoztatására hivatkozva, aki a Twitteren köszönte meg Erdogan török elnök támogatását. A törökök katonai és humanitárius segítséget is nyújtanak Ukrajnának.

Török tisztviselők azonban úgy nyilatkoztak, hogy egyelőre nem született végleges döntés a szorosok lezárásáról.
A korlátozás a fekete-tengeri szorosokat, azaz a Dardanellákat és Boszporuszt érintené a korlátozás. Csütörtökön 13 ukrán vesztette életét a Kígyó-szigeten, akiket tengeri és légi úton bombáztak.
