Aljakszandr Lukasenka belorusz elnök utasítására Belaruszban megkezdődött a fegyveres erők „harcképességének tesztelése” – jelentette az ország védelmi minisztériuma.
Ennek keretében többek között a katonai felszerelések mozgatását tervezik, emiatt a polgári közlekedés korlátozására is sor kerülhet.
Vlagyimir Putyin orosz elnök döntése, miszerint Moszkva taktikai nukleáris fegyvereket telepít Belaruszba, esélyt ad arra, hogy az ország megvédje magát a nyugati fenyegetésektől – jelentette ki pénteken Aljakszandr Lukasenka belorusz elnök.
Lukasenka a nemzethez intézett beszédében azt mondta, hogy a nyugati nemzetek Lengyelországban – Belarusz határainál – megerősítették katonai jelenlétüket, és azt állította, hogy országa lerohanását és elpusztítását tervezik. Lukasenka kifejtette, hogy a tűzszünetnek nem lehetnek előfeltételei az ukrajnai háborúban. Emellett óva intette Ukrajnát egy várható ellentámadás megindításától, mondván, hogy az lehetetlenné tenné a Moszkva és Kijev közötti béketárgyalásokat.
Ha az orosz vezetés az ország összeomlásának kockázatát látja, a legszörnyűbb fegyvereit fogja bevetni – fűzte hozzá Lukasenka.

Az Egyesült Államok egyelőre nem látja semmi jelét annak, hogy a belorusz hadsereg csatlakozna Oroszország február 24-én indított ukrajnai inváziójához.
Eddig nem láttuk semmilyen jelét annak, hogy Belarusznak bármilyen terve vagy szándéka lenne arra, hogy behatoljon Ukrajnába és segítse az orosz erőket – fogalmazott az Unian ukrán hírügynökség szerint a Fehér Ház Biztonsági Tanácsának szóvivője, John Kirby.
A szóvivő ugyanakkor egyetértett azzal, hogy Belarusz segített az orosz megszállóknak, miközben Oroszország bombázta Ukrajnát. Úgy véli, a beloruszok földrajzi támogatást nyújtottak az oroszoknak és továbbra is a területeikről indítanak támadásokat.
Végezetül Kirby Oroszország és Belarusz közös hadgyakorlatáról úgy vélekedett: „A gyakorlatok stratégiai célja továbbra sem világos.”
