Volodimir Zelenszkij elnök aláírta az angol nyelv ukrajnai működéséről szóló 9432. számú törvényt, amelyet június elején fogadott el a Legfelső Tanács – közölte szerdán az rbc.ua hírportál a Legfelső Tanács honlapjára hivatkozva.
A jelentés szerint Zelenszkij valamivel kevesebb, mint egy éve terjesztette a Legfelső Tanács elé az angol nyelv ukrajnai működéséről szóló törvénytervezetet. A parlament idén június 4-én fogadta el második olvasatban az államfői kezdeményezést.
A jogszabály indítványozza a többi között, hogy az angol nyelv emelkedjen a nemzetközi érintkezés egyik nyelvének státuszára Ukrajnában. A törvény szerint továbbá Ukrajnában a tisztviselőknek, a katonatiszteknek, akik szerződés alapján teljesítenek szolgálatot, a közép- és magas rangú rendőrtiszteknek tudniuk kell angolul.
Az angol nyelv ismeretét az Oktatási és Tudományos Minisztérium által szervezett ingyenes vizsgákon mérik fel.
