Az 1976-os születésű Sevcsenko 1994-2012 között profi labdarúgó volt, később edzői tevékenységet folytatott, Ukrajna válogatottjának vezetőedzője volt. Ukrajna tiszteletbeli sportmestere (2003), Ukrajna hőse (2004), az Oroszországi Föderáció teljes körű ukrajnai inváziója óta a United24 adománygyűjtő platform nagykövete.
