Bécsben, november 29-én folytatódnak a 2015-ös atomalku felélesztését célzó tárgyalások a nagyhatalmakkal – jelentette be szerdán Ali Bageri Kani, Irán főtárgyalója.
„Enrique Morával, az Európai Unió főtárgyalójával folytatott telefonbeszélgetésünk során megállapodtunk az illegális és embertelen szankciók feloldását célzó tárgyalások folytatásában november 29-én” – írta Bageri Kani Twitter-üzenetében.
Ned Price amerikai külügyi szóvivő sajtótájékoztatóján közölte, hogy Robert Malley, az Egyesült Államok iráni különmegbízottja fogja vezetni az amerikai delegációt a bécsi egyeztetéseken, egyben pedig reményének adott hangot, hogy Teherán jóhiszeműen és egyezségre készen tér vissza a tárgyalóasztalhoz.
Price mindemellett kiemelte: Washington továbbra is bízik abban, hogy gyorsan elérhető és megvalósítható az egyezség a szankciók feloldását szabályozó közös átfogó cselekvési tervhez (JCPOA) való kölcsönös visszatérésről.
Irán és a világ vezető hatalmai – az Egyesült Államok, Nagy-Britannia, Kína, Franciaország, Németország és Oroszország – 2015-ben, több mint tíz évig tartó tárgyalásokat követően állapodtak meg az iszlám köztársaság atomprogramjáról.
Az egyezmény értelmében Teherán korlátozta nukleáris tevékenységét, cserében pedig a nemzetközi közösség feloldotta az Iránt sújtó szankciók nagy részét.
Donald Trump volt amerikai elnök viszont 2018-ban egyoldalúan kiléptette az Egyesült Államokat az atomalkuból, majd visszaállította a korábbi szankciókat is, ezért Irán a megengedettnél több urániumot kezdett előállítani. Az atomalku újjáélesztéséről szóló egyeztetések áprilisban kezdődtek Bécsben, de megrekedtek, mióta Ebrahim Raiszi vette át az elnöki tisztséget Iránban.
