A zaporizzsjai atomerőművet ellenőrző állandó misszió felállítását sürgette a Nemzetközi Atomenergia-ügynökség (NAÜ) főigazgatója, aki szerda este érkezett egy 16 fős küldöttség élén Zaporizzsjába.
„A misszió a nukleáris baleseteket kívánná megelőzni” – jelentette ki Rafael Grossi, aki az ukrán védelmi tárca közlése szerint csütörtökön fogja kollégáival felkeresni az atomerőművet. Az erőmű – amely Ukrajna energiaellátásának 20 százalékát biztosítja – március óta orosz irányítás alatt áll, az orosz és az ukrán fél pedig egymást vádolja a létesítmény mellett fekvő Enerhodar város ellen intézett támadásokkal.
Szerdán ismét harcokat jelentettek a térségből, az ukrán hadsereg által augusztus 29-én indított ellentámadással kapcsolatban pedig Olekszij Aresztovics ukrán elnöki tanácsadó azt mondta, „lassú folyamatra” számítanak, ugyanis az ukrán fél „fontosnak tartja az emberi életet”. „Nem lesznek gyors sikerek” – fogalmazott Aresztovics.
Nem sokkal korábban a tanácsadó azt közölte, hogy az ukrán fegyveres erők kisebb offenzívát indítottak, és több szektorban áttörték a frontvonalat. Jurij Szobolevszkij, a dél-ukrajnai régió helyettes kormányzója egy szerdai tévéműsorban azt mondta, az ukrán ellentámadás komoly veszteségeket okozott az orosz erőknek, de konkrét adatokat nem közölt.
Mindeközben az RBC ukrán hírügynökség arról számolt be, hogy csütörtökre virradóra több robbanást jelentettek az Ukrajna déli részén fekvő Mikolajivból, valamint Odesszából és környékéről. Jóllehet a szirénákat nem szólaltatták meg, a hatóságok felszólították az embereket, maradjanak otthonaikban – tette hozzá a hírügynökség.

„Ma, augusztus 31-én, 15 órakor megérkezett Zaporizzsjába a Nemzetközi Atomenergia-ügynökség missziója” – áll a bejegyzésben.
A küldetés részeként a NAÜ szakértőinek meg kell vizsgálniuk a nukleáris és sugárbiztonsági szabványok és normák megsértését a zaporizzsjai atomerőműnél.
„Ukrajna álláspontja változatlan: az atomerőművet haladéktalanul demilitarizálni kell, fel kell szabadítani és teljes mértékben az ukrán kormány irányítása alá kell helyezni” – közölte Oleh Nyikolenko, a Külügyminisztérium szóvivője.

A tévécsatorna újságírói kedd reggel találkoztak a NAÜ-küldöttség tagjaival egy kijevi szállodában.
A misszió ezen a héten utazik a zaporizzsjai atomerőműhöz. Fel kell mérniük a fizikai károkat, az érintett állomásokat, a munkakörülményeket, ellenőrizniük kell a védelmi rendszereket, és meg kell tenniük a szükséges intézkedéseket a biztonsági szint növelésére.
A Fehér Ház úgy véli, hogy az Oroszországi Föderációnak bele kellene egyeznie egy demilitarizált övezet létrehozásába az orosz csapatok által elfoglalt zaporizzsjai atomerőmű körül.

Zaporizzsja környéke március óta van az oroszok kezén, az erőmű mégis az ukrán területeknek szolgáltat áramot. A harcok során többször is rakéták csapódtak be az épület környékén, sőt egy raktár is kigyulladt az udvarán. A Nyugat attól tart, hogy egy eltévedt töltet nukleáris katasztrófát okozhat. Moszkva és Kijev egymásra mutogat a bombázások kapcsán.
A harcok miatt csütörtökön egy időre le is kellett állítani az erőművet. Az Ukrenergo állami energiaszolgáltató vállalat pénteken közölte, hogy szakemberei újra üzembe helyezték az orosz lövedékek által megrongált két fő vezetéket, amely az atomerőmű saját villamosáram-igényét elégíti ki. „Ennek köszönhetően az atomerőműben lévő kiégett fűtőelem-tároló és más fontos létesítmények stabil áramellátása és biztonságos működése garantált” – áll a jelentésben. A vállalat hozzátette, hogy a közeljövőben várhatóan befejezik egy másik fővezeték helyreállítását is, ami javítani fogja az erőmű biztonságát.
A veszély azonban koránt sem hárult el, ugyanis a bombázások miatt erdőtüzek alakultak ki a környéken, amelyek szintén fenyegetik a reaktorokat.
