Nagy-Britannia fontolóra vette katonai jelenlétének komoly mértékű növelését az európai kontinensen, mindenekelőtt Kelet-Európában – közölte vasárnap a Downing Street.
A londoni miniszterelnöki hivatal szerint ennek célja az európai határok megerősítése lenne „a fokozódó orosz agresszióval szemben”.
A tájékoztatás nem pontosítja, hogy a brit kormány összesen hány katona európai telepítésének felajánlását tervezi. Johnson hivatala azonban egyenes utalást tett arra, hogy a csapaterősítés a Baltikumra összpontosítana: London a vasárnap ismertetett tervek szerint mérlegeli az Észtországban állomásozó brit katonai kontingens létszámának kétszeresére emelését és védelmi fegyverzetet is küldene a balti köztársaságba. Nagy-Britannia jelenleg több mint 900 katonát állomásoztat Észtországban.
Boris Johnson a tájékoztatáshoz fűzött nyilatkozatában hangsúlyozta: a fontolóra vett intézkedéscsomaggal a brit kormány azt az egyértelmű üzenetet küldi a Kremlnek, hogy nem fogja eltűrni Oroszország destabilizáló tevékenységét és mindig kiáll NATO-szövetségesei mellett. A brit miniszterelnök közölte: elrendelte, hogy a brit fegyveres erők készüljenek fel alakulatok kivezénylésére Európa egész területére már a jövő héttől, hogy Nagy-Britannia képes legyen szárazföldi, tengeri és légi támogatást nyújtani NATO-szövetségeseinek.
A Downing Street vasárnapi tájékoztatása szerint London kormánytisztviselőket küld Brüsszelbe a jövő héten azzal a feladattal, hogy véglegesítsék a NATO-val a segítségnyújtási felajánlás részleteit. A londoni miniszterelnöki hivatal megerősítette: Johnson a hét elején telefonon tárgyal majd Putyinnal és személyesen is felkeresi a térséget, hogy hangot adjon annak a véleményének: az elrettentés és a diplomácia elegyének sikeres alkalmazása nélkül több ezer emberélet veszhet oda Oroszországban és Ukrajnában egyaránt.
A brit kormányfő szerint ha Vlagyimir Putyin orosz elnök a vérontás és a rombolás útját választja, az tragédia lenne Európa számára. Johnson hozzátette: biztosítani kell, hogy Ukrajna szabadon dönthessen saját jövőjéről.
A Downing Street nem közölte, hogy Boris Johnson mely országokba látogat a következő napokban, de azt bejelentette, hogy Ben Wallace brit védelmi miniszter a héten – Johnson nevében – felkeresi Magyarországot, Szlovéniát és Horvátországot.
Mindeközben a brit külügyminisztérium hétfőn várhatóan bejelenti szankciós keretrendszerének megerősítését, hogy a szankciókkal Oroszország stratégiai és pénzügyi érdekeltségeit is célba lehessen venni. Erre Liz Truss külügyminiszter is tett már utalást egy minap előadásában, kijelentve: az Ukrajna elleni esetleges orosz katonai akció következményei között olyan összehangolt szankciók is lennének, amelyek az orosz pénzügyi rendszert érintenék.

A jelentés szerint az Egyesült Királyság miniszterelnöke azt mondta: „a hírszerzés nagyon világosan jelezte, hogy 60 orosz harci csoport van Ukrajna határainál. Mindenki számára nyilvánvaló a Kijevet megsemmisítő villámháború terve.” Hozzátette, világossá kell tennünk a Kreml és Oroszország számára, hogy ez katasztrofális lépés lesz.
Johnson hangsúlyozta azt is, hogy London továbbra is elkötelezett Ukrajna népének támogatása mellett, és az európai vezetők soha nem látott szankciócsomagban állapodtak meg Oroszország ellen, ha az a támadás mellett dönt.

Nagy-Britannia megkezdte kijevi nagykövetség egyes munkatársainak az evakuálását a helyzet súlyosbodásának veszélye miatt – adta hírül az rbc.ua hírportál hétfőn a brit kormány honlapjára hivatkozva.
A jelentés szerint a kijevi brit nagykövetség csak néhány munkatársát evakuálták. „A nagykövetség néhány alkalmazottját evakuálják Kijevből, válaszul az Oroszország részéről növekvő fenyegetésre. A brit nagykövetség továbbra is nyitva tart, és továbbra is működni fog” – áll a közleményben.
Mint hírportálunk tegnap beszámolt róla, a CNN amerikai hírtelevízió azt közölte, hogy az Egyesült Államok ezen a héten megkezdheti ukrajnai nagykövetsége személyzetének az evakuálását, a külképviselet ezt kérelmezi a külügyminisztériumtól.

A brit külügyminisztérium állítása szerint információi vannak Oroszország tervéről, miszerint oroszbarát politikust juttat hatalomra Kijevben azt követően, hogy megtámadja Ukrajnát – adta hírül az rbc.ua hírportál vasárnap a brit külügyminisztérium közlésére hivatkozva.
A jelentés szerint a brit külügyi tárca azt közölte: „információink arra utalnak, hogy az Ukrajna elleni lehetséges invázióról és az ország megszállásáról szóló döntés során az orosz kormány egy oroszbarát vezetőt próbál hatalomra juttatni Kijevben.”
A brit külügyminisztérium azt is jelezte, hogy több volt ukrán politikus is kapcsolatban áll az orosz hírszerzéssel. „Néhányuk kapcsolatban áll orosz hírszerző tisztekkel, akik részt vettek egy Ukrajna elleni támadás tervezésében” – olvasható a közleményben.
Liz Truss brit külügyminiszter szerint „a közzétett információk rávilágítanak az Ukrajna aláásását célzó orosz akciók mértékére”. „Oroszországnak csökkentenie kell a feszültséget, meg kell állítania az agressziót és a dezinformációs tevékenységet, és tovább kell lépnie a diplomácia útján. Az Egyesült Királyság és partnereink többször is hangoztatták, hogy bármilyen katonai beavatkozás Ukrajnába óriási stratégiai hiba lenne, és nagy költségekkel járna” – hangsúlyozta a brit külügyminiszter.

A jelentés szerint Raab a Sky News brit hírtelevíziónak nyilatkozva azt mondta, hogy az Egyesült Királyság és más országok gazdasági és pénzügyi szankciókat foganatosítanak Moszkvával szemben, ha Oroszország megtámadja Ukrajnát. Hangsúlyozta, hogy Nagy-Britannia támogatni fogja Ukrajnát, vállvetve fog állni mellette. Hozzátette, hogy nagyon súlyos következményei lesznek, ha Oroszország megpróbálja megtámadni Ukrajnát és ott bábrezsimet hoz létre.

A jelentés szerint a diplomata az UATV csatornának nyilatkozva azt mondta, most fontos annak a megértése, hogy mennyire valós az orosz támadás veszélye. Úgy vélte Oroszország a mostani „háborús ködösítéssel” egyszerűen csak a tárgyalásokat akarja befolyásolni.
Prisztajko hangsúlyozta: „a mi feladatunk és a partnereink feladata az, hogy különválasszuk az igazságot a fenyegetéstől, és megértsük, mennyire valós a veszélye annak, hogy diplomáciai módszerekkel ne lehessen elejét venni a háború aktív szakaszának.”
Riporteri kérdésre válaszolva, hogy Ukrajna behívna-e brit katonaságot a területére, a nagykövet kijelentette: „ha valós a fenyegetés, ha megkezdődnek az aktív hadműveletek, mindent kérni fogunk, beleértve brit csapatok behívását a területünkre.”

Az Egyesült Királyság 2000 páncéltörő fegyvert és 30 kommandóst küldött Ukrajnába az orosz támadás veszélye miatt, a szállítmány és a katonák már ezen a héten megérkeztek az országba – adta hírül az rbc.ua hírportál pénteken a Sky News brit hírtelevízióra hivatkozva.
A jelentés szerint az Ukrajnába vezényelt 30 kommandós a brit hadsereg különleges műveleti dandárjához tartozó, nemrég felállított vadászezred katonái. Ugyancsak a héten katonai repülőgépek mintegy 2000 páncéltörő rakétavetőt szállítottak Ukrajnába.
A csatorna szerint a brit hadsereg különleges műveleti dandárjának 30 kommandósa az ukrán katonákat fogja kiképezni. Az ukrán fegyveres erők harcosait elsősorban azoknak a páncéltörő fegyvereknek a használatára fogják kiképezni, amelyeket Nagy-Britannia küldött Ukrajnának. A katonai támogatás részeként brit felderítő repülőgépek is segítik az ukrán csapatokat az oroszok elleni harcban.

Ben Wallace brit védelmi miniszter hétfői parlamenti meghallgatásán kijelentette, hogy London megosztja védelmi fegyvereit Ukrajnával, könnyű páncéltörő rendszereket ad el neki – adta hírül az rbc.ua hírportála Reuters hírügynökségre hivatkozva.
A jelentés szerint Wallace azt mondta, „úgy döntöttünk, hogy Ukrajnát könnyű páncéltörő védelmi rendszerekkel látjuk el. Ezek nem stratégiai fegyverek, és nem jelentenek veszélyt Oroszországra. Önvédelemre kell használni őket.”
A brit miniszter egyúttal meghívta Szergej Sojgu orosz védelmi minisztert is Londoni látogatásra, hogy megvitassa vele az Ukrajna körüli helyzetet.
