Volodimir Zelenszkij elnök úgy véli, hogy Ukrajna a NATO „nyitott ajtók” politikája ellenére sem lesz az Észak-atlanti Szövetség tagja – adta hírül az Ukrajinszka Pravda hírportál kedden az elnök beszédére hivatkozva.
A jelentés szerint Zelenszkij a Nagy-Britannia vezette Egyesült Expedíciós Erők vezetőihez intézett beszédében azt mondta: „persze Ukrajna nem tagja a NATO-nak. Ezt megértjük, józanul gondolkodó emberek vagyunk. Évek óta hallunk az állítólag nyitott ajtókról, de azt is hallottuk, hogy nem szabad belépnünk rajtuk. És ez igaz, és ezt el kell ismernünk. Örülök, hogy a népünk ezt kezdi megérteni, hagy csak magukra és partnereinkre támaszkodhatunk, akik segítenek nekünk.”
Zelenszkij hangsúlyozta, hogy Ukrajna most nem kéri a NATO-szerződés 5. cikkelyének alkalmazását, és csak az azt kéri, hogy zárják le Ukrajna légterét az orosz légi csapások megakadályozása érdekében. „Az együttműködés új formáira, új elszántságra van szükségünk. És ha nem tudunk belépni a nyitott ajtón, akkor olyan közösségekkel kell együttműködnünk, amelyek segítenek és megvédenek minket, mint például az önöké. És megbízható garanciákkal kell rendelkeznünk.”

Volodimir Zelenszkij elnök a brit alsóházhoz kedden online intézett beszédében világosan kijelölte Ukrajna prioritásait az Oroszország elleni háborúban, hangsúlyozva, hogy az ukránok nem adják fel, és nem veszítenek – adta hírül az rbc.ua hírportál az elnök beszédére hivatkozva.

Ben Wallace brit védelmi miniszter kijelentette, hogy országa támogatni fogja Lengyelországot, ha úgy dönt, hogy harci repülőgépeket ad Ukrajnának, ugyanakkor figyelmeztetett, hogy ez „közvetlenül a tűzvonalba” helyezheti az országot – adta hírül az rbc.ua hírportál kedden a The Guardian című brit lapra hivatkozva.
Mint Wallace közölte, „támogatnám a lengyeleket és bármilyen választásukat. Nagy-Britannia azonban nem tud olyan repülőgépeket felkínálni, amelyeket az ukránok használni tudnának.” Szerinte azonban Lengyelországnak meg kell értenie, hogy egy ilyen lépés közvetlenül segít ugyan Ukrajnának, de ennek meglesznek a következményei.
A miniszter kijelentette, „megvédjük Lengyelországot, segítjük mindenben, amire szüksége van. Az ukrán nép rettenetes helyzetbe került az Oroszország által indított háború miatt, de ezzel együtt is mindent el kell követni annak megakadályozására, hogy a NATO és Oroszország között is háború törjön ki – mondta vasárnap a brit fegyveres erők vezérkari főnöke.
Sir Tony Radakin tengernagy arra intette a brit állampolgárokat, hogy ne menjenek harcolni Ukrajnába az orosz hadsereg ellen.

Radakin a BBC brit közszolgálati televízió vasárnapi politikai magazinműsorában – arra a kérdésre, hogy a Nyugat megteheti-e, hogy kívülről figyeli az ukrán nép háborús szenvedéseit – kijelentette: az ukrajnai lakosság helyzete valóban kétségbeejtő, de fel kell ismerni azt is, hogy a Nyugatnak el kell kerülnie a háborút Oroszországgal, mert egy ilyen háború a mostani rettenetes helyzetnél is még rosszabbat teremtene.
Semmit nem akarunk kevésbé, mint egy háborút Oroszországgal – fogalmazott a brit vezérkari főnök.
Hozzátette: az ukrajnai háború Oroszország szempontjából nem halad jól, Oroszország is szenved, elszigetelt hatalommá vált, kevésbé erős, mint tíz nappal ezelőtt, és számára ez a helyzet nem tartható fenn.
Éppen ezért bíznunk kell abban, hogy amit eddig megtettünk, az helytálló – mondta Radakin tengernagy, utalva a Moszkva ellen érvénybe léptetett nyugati szankciókra.
Kijelentette: a Nyugat tartozik az ukrán népnek azzal, hogy folytatja az Ukrajnának nyújtott támogatást, de tartozik az ukrán népnek, Európa egészének és az egész világnak azzal is, hogy garantálja az ukrajnai háború eszkalációjának elkerülését.
Ahogy fogalmazott: jóllehet többször is felmerült az a kérés, hogy a Nyugat létesítsen repüléstilalmi övezetet Ukrajna légterében, ez nem lenne hatékony, mivel az orosz támadások zömét szárazföldi erők, köztük tüzérségi alakulatok hajtják végre, viszont egy ilyen repüléstilalom bevezetése is az eszkaláció kockázatával járna.
A brit vezérkari főnök felhívta a figyelmet arra, hogy törvénysértést követnének el azok a brit katonák és civilek egyaránt, akik Ukrajnába mennének harcolni az orosz hadsereg ellen.
Sir Tony Radakin alig burkoltan bírálta Liz Truss brit külügyminisztert, aki a múlt héten kijelentette: támogatja azokat, akik Ukrajnába utaznának és harcolnának az ukrán hadsereggel vállvetve az orosz haderő ellen.

Fontolóra vette az Egyesült Királyság kormánya, hogy korlátozza kikötői használatát az orosz hajóknak, írja a Guardian.
A kérdés azután került napirendre, hogy kiderült, kedden köt ki a skóciai Orkney-szigeteknél az orosz állam többségi tulajdonában lévő Szovkomflot cég NS Champion nevű olajszállítója, hogy a Flotta olajterminálról kőolajat gyűjtsön be.
A háborúellenes tüntetést is szervező helyiek – köztük ott élő ukránok – legnagyobb megdöbbenésére a brit kormány a helyi tanácsnak azt mondta, jelenleg nem tudják megtagadni a hajó dokkolási engedélyét.
Erre ugyanis jelenleg nincsen semmiféle embargó, szemben például a légtérrel, melyet a britek lezártak az orosz légitársaságok előtt. A brit kormányszóvivő jelezte, tárgyalnak az esetleges behajózási korlátozásról a skót kormánnyal, ha szigorítanak ezen a területen is, az egy nagyobb szankciós csomag része lehet.

I call on all EU and G7 states to stop issuing visas to Russians. President @ZelenskyyUa is absolutely right to insist on this. Russians overwhelmingly support the war on Ukraine. They must be deprived of the right to cross international borders until they learn to respect them.
The suggested elements of the upcoming EU sanctions package on Russia do not correspond to the scale of Putin’s escalation and the threat he poses to Europe and the whole world. We encourage the EU to hit Putin harder in order to stop him. This is a crucial moment.

Nagy-Britannia támogatni fogja Ukrajna visszalépését a NATO-csatlakozástól, ha Kijev ilyen döntést hoz – jelentette ki James Heappey brit védelmi miniszter-helyettes hétfőn egy televíziós interjúban, adta hírül a strana.news hírportál.
A jelentés szerint Heappey a Sky News brit hírtelevíziónak nyilatkozva azt mondta: „semmilyen diplomáciai döntés nem veszélyeztetheti Ukrajna szuverenitását. De ha Ukrajna úgy dönt, hogy nem lesz NATO-tag, akkor támogatjuk.” Hozzátette, a döntést az ukrán kormánynak kell meghoznia.
A hírportál emlékeztetett arra, hogy Vadim Prisztajko londoni ukrán nagykövet a BBC Radio 5-nek nyilatkozva kijelentette, hogy Ukrajna kész lemondani a NATO-csatlakozásról a háború elkerülése érdekében. A jelentés szerint Johnson a NATO brüsszeli főhadiszállásán tett látogatása során azt mondta: Putyin még nem hozta meg a döntést, de ez nem jelenti azt, hogy nagyon hamar nem történhet valami teljesen katasztrofális dolog. Megjegyezte, hogy az Ukrajna elleni orosz fenyegetésről szóló hírszerzési adatok továbbra is „komorak”. Elmondása szerint hatalmas számú harci zászlóaljcsoportot összpontosítottak Ukrajna határain, 70-et vagy még többet. „Valószínűleg ez a legveszélyesebb pillanat a legnagyobb biztonsági válságban, amellyel Európa több évtized óta szembesül” – mutatott rá.
A brit kormányfő hangsúlyozta, hogy Európának helyesen kell megközelítenie az orosz fenyegetést. „A szankciók katonai elszántsággal és diplomáciával való kombinációja az, amit helyesnek tartunk” – emlékeztetett. „Nagy-Britannia feltétel nélküli és megingathatatlan elkötelezettsége az európai biztonság mellett igazolja a csapatok, repülőgépek és hajók számának növelésére irányuló terveket. Nagyon nagy a kockázat, és ez egy igen veszélyes pillanat” – fejezte ki aggodalmát Boris Johnson.

Ukrajna rakétafegyvereket kap az Egyesült Királyságtól, hogy szembe tudjon szállni Oroszországgal a Fekete- és Azovi-tengeren – jelentette be Vadim Prisztajko, Ukrajna londoni nagykövete egy rádióinterjúban, adta hírül az rbc.ua hírportál.
A jelentés szerint a diplomata a Novoje Vremja rádiónak nyilatkozva elmondta, „Nagy-Britannia barátokat keres, Ukrajna pedig elvileg alkalmas erre a szerepre. Annak ellenére, hogy az országunkkal való barátság problémákat okoz, elsősorban az Oroszországgal fennálló konfrontáció miatt, Nagy-Britannia készen áll egy ilyen lépésre.”
A nagykövet szerint Ukrajna támogatásának a megnyilvánulása Nagy-Britannia részéről a fegyverszállítás. Mint megjegyezte, a felek már 2 milliárd dollár értékű katonai megállapodást írtak alá. Elmondása szerint a megállapodások négy konkrét projekt megvalósítását írják elő. Az egyik két hajó építése Skóciában, amelyeket az ukrán hadsereg igényeinek megfelelően alakítanak át. Ezenkívül először a brit, majd az ukrán hajógyárakban építenek hajókat. „Ebbe a körbe tartoznak a rakétafegyverek. Fegyveres erőink először kapnak valódi fegyvereket, rakétákat, amelyek lehetővé teszik, hogy szembeszálljunk Oroszországgal a Fekete- és Azovi-tengeren” – mutatott rá Vadim Prisztajko.

Russia unleashed another salvo of missiles on Ukraine this Saturday. Russia will not stop until it is stopped. The global community must focus on enforcing a just and lasting peace: arming Ukraine, including with F-16s to close the sky, and implementing Ukraine’s Peace Formula.
