Уряд Афганістану й таліби зустрінуться в столиці Катару – Досі, щоб провести перші спільні переговори про мир, заявили обидві сторони в неділю. Після багатьох років бойових дій між ними вперше відбудеться зустріч на високому рівні, але її дата ще не визначена. Чи стане Доха постійним місцем проведення переговорів, наразі невідомо.
У четвер уряд Афганістану заявив, що прискорить нещодавно розпочатий процес обміну полоненими з повстанцями-талібами. До кінця цього тижня із в’язниці можуть випустити до 5000 талібів, ідеться в заяві. Таліби відповіли, що через тиждень після звільнення полонених готові провести перший раунд мирних переговорів та, у свою чергу, звільнять тисячу полонених.
Уряд Афганістану вже відпустив 3000 бойовиків «Талібану», а таліби – 500 військових у рамках дохійської угоди між повстанцями та США, підписаної в лютому поточного року. Ця угода також включає графік виведення військ Сполучених Штатів під керівництвом НАТО.
У четвер прессекретар уряду Седік Седдікі заявив, що фактично між сторонами відбулося неофіційне припинення вогню.
