Президент Туреччини хоче, щоб носіння хустки стало конституційним правом. На публічному заході Реджеп Таїп Ердоган говорив про те, що в конституції жінкам має бути гарантовано право носіння ісламської хустки в державних установах, школах і університетах.
“Щоб заспокоїти наших доньок і сестер, я запропонував забезпечити свободу щодо того, щоб носити хустки, тобто це конституційне право”, – заявив глава турецької держави на публічному заході.
Якщо парламент не прийме пропозицію, я ініціюю референдум із цього питання, додав Ердоган.
У Туреччині, де більшість складають мусульмани, але є світська конституція, носіння чадри, що покриває волосся, у цивільній сфері, школах і вищих навчальних закладах було заборонено протягом багатьох десятиліть, але це обмеження було скасовано урядом Ердогана в 2013 році.
Турецький президент часто зображує себе захисником мусульман від світської еліти, натякаючи, що без нього різні релігійні досягнення опинилися б під загрозою. З пропозицією щодо хустки Ердоган уже готується до парламентських і президентських виборів наступного року.
