Antony Blinken amerikai külügyminiszter Kijevben megígérte, hogy Washington soha nem fog megállapodni senkivel Ukrajnát illetően Ukrajna megkerülésével – jelentette ki Dmitro Kuleba külügyminiszter Facebook-oldalán csütörtökön közzétett videokommentárjában, közölte az Ukrajinszka Pravda hírportál.
Az ukrán diplomácia vezetője Blinken csütörtöki hivatalos látogatása kapcsán hangsúlyozta, hogy az Ukrajna és USA közötti kapcsolatok soha nem voltak olyan dinamikusak az ukrán függetlenség 30 éve során, mint most. „Az amerikai külügyminiszter nagyon fontos dolgot mondott: Ukrajnának soha nem kell kételkednie az USA-t illetően, az Egyesült Államok ugyanis soha nem fog megállapodni senkivel Ukrajnáról Ukrajna nélkül” – mutatott rá a külügyminiszter.
Kuleba azt is jelezte, Blinken világosan megmondta, hogy az USA szándékában áll a stratégiai partnerség fejlesztése Ukrajnával. Ugyanakkor ő kifejtette az amerikai külügyminiszternek, hogy az Ukrajna elleni orosz agresszió csak azt követően vall kudarcot és szűnik meg, ha Moszkva világosan tudatosítja: a kollektív Nyugat Ukrajnát saját elválaszthatatlan részeként fogadja el.

Blinken az újságíróknak elmondta, hogy nagyon sok erő működik a reformok és a korrupció leküzdése ellen. Köztük olyan külső erő, mint Oroszország és olyan belső erők, mint az oligarchák, vagyis azok a nagy befolyással rendelkező személyek, akik saját érdekeiket érvényesítik törvénytelen eszközökkel – tette hozzá. Szavai szerint Ukrajna elsősorban légvédelmi rendszereket és mesterlövész-ellenes technológiákat készül kérni az Egyesült Államoktól. A CBS News híradása szerint Blinken egy interjúban erősítette meg, hogy Kijevbe utazik. A teljes interjú vasárnap a 60 minutes című műsorban kerül adásba. „Oroszország nagyobb erőket vont össze a határnál, mint 2014-ben, amikor ténylegesen megtámadta Ukrajnát” – mondta a CBS News által közölt interjúrészletben Blinken.
Oroszország a NATO „fenyegető” tevékenységére hivatkozva hajtott végre hadgyakorlatot az ukrán határ közelében, majd a csapatok visszavonását rendelte el.
„Az elmúlt napokban azt láttuk, hogy döntés született a csapatok egy részének visszavonásáról, és bizonyos erők tényleg elkezdtek visszahúzódni” – fogalmazott Blinken, hozzátéve: „nem mondhatom, hogy ismernénk Putyin elnök szándékait. Több dolgot is tehet vagy dönthet úgy, hogy nem tesz”.

Antony Blinken amerikai külügyminiszter a sajtószabadság május 3-án esedékes világnapját megelőzően szerda este tartott kerekasztal-beszélgetésen aggodalmát fejezte ki a média magyarországi helyzete miatt, és nyitott médiakörnyezetet biztosítására sürgette a magyar kormányt – közölte az Euractiv című brüsszeli hírportál csütörtökön közzétett szerkesztőségi cikkében.
A cikk szerint Biden a beszélgetésen azt mondta: az Egyesült Államok „komolyan aggódik a pluralizmus, a sokszínűség és a független vélemény terének csökkenése miatt”, és úgy vélekedett, hogy aggodalmát a sajtószabadság nemzetközi szószólói és több magyar ember is osztja.
Mivel az amerikai politikus szerint a felsoroltak hozzátartoznak a demokráciához, ezért, mint fogalmazott, „arra szólítjuk fel a magyar kormányt, hogy biztosítson nyitott médiakörnyezetet” – idézte az amerikai külügyminisztert a brüsszeli hírportál.
Blinken kifejtette: az Egyesült Államok, valamint az Európai Unió is „úgy véli, hogy kollektív érdekeit az szolgálja a legjobban, ha megpróbálja megszilárdítani a jogállamiság és a közös értékeken alapuló együttműködés demokratikus normáit”.
Az Euractív tudósítása szerint az amerikai külügyminiszter a kerekasztal-beszélgetésen arra is figyelmeztetett, hogy Oroszország és Kína „aláássa a közép- és kelet-európai nemzetek demokratikus és szuverén akaratát”.
A brüsszeli hírportál felidézte, hogy a Riporterek Határok Nélkül (RSF) nevű nemzetközi újságíró szervezet tavalyi jelentése Magyarországot a 89. helyre sorolta a „médiaszabadság erőteljes csökkenésére” hivatkozva. Emlékeztetett arra is, hogy februárban elutasították a Klubrádió fellebbezését, amelyet műsorszolgáltatási engedélyének megtartása érdekében adott be az illetékes magyar hatósághoz.

Az Egyesült Államok szorosan együtt fog működni az Európai Unióval, hogy ellensúlyozza Kína agresszív fellépéseit a kereskedelem területén – jelentette ki Antony Blinken amerikai külügyminiszter Brüsszelben, a NATO-tagországok külügyminisztereinek tanácskozását követően szerdán.
Antony Blinken sajtótájékoztatóján hangsúlyozta, sem az Egyesült Államok, sem Európa nem képes egyedül érdemben fellépni Kínával szemben a kereskedelem területén. Kijelentette, Kínának teljesítenie kell a kereskedelem területén az uniónak tett ígéreteit, köztük, hogy megnyitja gazdaságát. Kiemelte azt is, hogy az Európai Uniónak, az Egyesült Államoknak és ázsiai partnereiknek olyan szövetség kialakítására kell törekedniük, amelynek esélye van arra, hogy „figyelmen kívül hagyja” Pekinget. „Tudjuk, hogy szövetségeseinknek összetett kapcsolatuk van Kínával, amely nem minden esetben egyezik tökéletesen a miénkkel. Washington azonban nem fogja arra kényszeríteni szövetségeseit, hogy válasszanak az Egyesült Államok és Kína között” – fogalmazott.
Blinken röviden kitért arra is, hogy az Egyesült Államok és Németország álláspontja között határozott nézeteltérés van az Oroszországot Németországgal összekötő Északi Áramlat-2 gázvezeték megépítésének tekintetében. Arról tájékoztatta német kollégáját, Heiko Maas külügyminisztert, hogy a vezeték építésben részt vevő vállalatok szankciókkal nézhetnek szembe az Egyesült Államok részéről – közölte az amerikai külügyminiszter.
Jens Stoltenberg NATO-főtitkár tájékoztatójában kiemelte: miközben a NATO továbbra is „nagyon nehéz kapcsolatot” ápol Oroszországgal, a szövetségesek és partnerei közötti egyetértés és együttműködés tovább erősödött. Úgy vélte, hogy az évek óta gyakorolt nyomás, valamint a párbeszéd folytatására tett erőfeszítések ellenére Oroszország fokozta a belső elnyomást és agresszív fellépését külföldön. Szavai szerint Moszkva aláássa és destabilizálja szomszédait, köztük Ukrajnát, Grúziát és a Moldovai Köztársaságot, támogatja a fehérorosz vezetést, és megpróbál befolyást szerezni a nyugat-balkáni régióban. Oroszország fellépésére reagálva a NATO kollektív védelmének legnagyobb megerősítését hajtotta végre az elmúlt időszakban, egyebek mellett fokozta védelmi képességét a hibrid hadviselés és a kibernetika területét érintően is – közölte.
