A négy ukrajnai régió, Herszon, Zaporizzsja, Donyeck és Luhanszk egyoldalúan Oroszországhoz való csatolás kikiáltásának első évfordulóján Vlagyimir Putyin orosz elnök ígéretet tett a háború sújtotta területek újjáépítésére.
A Kreml internetes oldalán szombaton közzétett videoüzenetben azt mondta: „iskolákat, kórházakat, lakóházakat és utakat, múzeumokat és műemlékeket” építenének újjá és állítanának helyre. Hozzátette, hogy minden orosz régió testvéri segítséget nyújt az újjáépítésben.
Putyin a videóban hangoztatta: nagy feladat és nehéz kihívások megoldása áll előttünk, történelmi régióink újjáépítésének és társadalmi-gazdasági fejlődésének nagyszerű programjának megvalósítása. Kiemelte: a kitűzött céljainkat mindenképpen el fogjuk érni.
Az orosz elnök történelmi és sorsdöntő eseménynek nevezte a területek annektálását, amelyet a világ egyetlen országa sem ismert el. Köszönetet mondott egyben a területek lakóinak. „Egy nép vagyunk. Együtt mindent legyőzünk, minden kihívásra választ találunk” – hangsúlyozta.
Oroszország a több mint másfél éves háború után sem ellenőrzi még teljesen mértékben a négy elcsatolt régió egyikét sem. Ukrajnának hónapokig tartó harcok árán sikerült visszafoglalnia a területek egyes megszállt részeit.
