Újra találkozott Párizsban Anthony Albanese ausztrál miniszterelnök Emmanuel Macron francia elnökkel, miután az országok között egy védelmi szerződés felmondása miatt kirobbant a konfliktus. Az ausztrál miniszterelnök örömmel fogadta, hogy újra tudják kezdeni együttműködésüket, és sikerült elsimítania elődje, Scott Morrison által keltett hullámokat – írja a France24 hírportál.
Jelenlétem új kezdetet jelent országaink kapcsolatában – mondta Albanese, miután megérkezett az Elysee-palotába, majd hozzátette, hogy kiemelten fontos Ausztrália kapcsolata Franciaországgal, így bizalommal, tisztelettel és őszinteséggel fordulnak ezentúl egymáshoz.
Válaszul Macron, miután elismerte, hogy nehéz idők vannak mögöttük, hangsúlyozta a két ország stratégiai partnerségét, közös európai háborús történelmüket és közös érdekeiket a csendes-óceáni térség stabilitásának biztosításában.
A francia elnöki palota udvarán a két férfi és feleségeik találkozása és tárgyalása gyökeres változást jelent a két ország kapcsolatában Scott Morrison volt ausztrál miniszterelnök távozása óta.
Tavaly Ausztrália felmondta a francia Naval csoporttal kötött 35 milliárd eurós szerződést, a pályázat keretében 12 francia tervezésű dízelmotoros tengeralattjárót vásároltak volna, hogy ellensúlyozzák Kína befolyását a Dél-kínai-tengeren.
Morrison ezután új háromoldalú, tudományos, technológiai és biztonsági-védelmi partnerséget (AUKUS) kötött az Egyesült Államokkal és az Egyesült Királysággal. Ennek keretében az Egyesült Államok nukleáris meghajtású tengeralattjáró-flottát szállít Canberra számára, hogy megerősítse szövetségese Kínával szembeni harcászati képességeit.
Párizs az üzlet kútba esése mellett azt sem vette jó néven, hogy az AUKUS-ról csak néhány órával annak nyilvános bejelentése előtt értesült.
Válaszul megszakította diplomáciai kapcsolatait Ausztráliával, és Macron többször is azzal vádolta Morrisont, hogy hazudott neki a 2021 júniusában Párizsban elfogyasztott vacsora során.
Albanese a hónap elején bejelentette, hogy a francia tengeralattjáró-gyártó Naval Group beleegyezett egy 555 millió eurós fájdalomdíjba, kompenzálandó a korábbi szerződés felmondását.
A mostani találkozó során Albanese és Macron is hangsúlyozta közös véleményét Oroszország ukrajnai inváziójáról, és megerősítették, hogy támogatják Ukrajna szuverenitását és az ukrán nép harcát. Emellett Macron méltatta Albanese elkötelezettségét az éghajlatváltozás elleni küzdelem mellett, ami újdonságnak számít konzervatív elődje, Morrison álláspontja után.

Az Elysée-palota tájékoztatása szerint az egyeztetés során – amelyet London kezdeményezett – a brit kormányfő „kifejezte szándékát a Franciaország és az Egyesült Királyság közötti együttműködés helyreállítására” a közös érdekeknek és értékeknek megfelelően (éghajlatváltozás, Indiai-csendes-óceáni térség, terrorizmus elleni küzdelem).
„Az elnök azt válaszolta, hogy várja a javaslatokat” – szögezte le a közlemény.
Az egyeztetés előtt két nappal beszélt telefonon egymással a francia elnök és amerikai kollégája, Joe Biden, amelynek eredményeképpen enyhült a feszültség Párizs és Washington között, s Emmanuel Macron úgy döntött: Franciaország washingtoni nagykövete a jövő héten ismét elfoglalja állomáshelyét.
Párizs a múlt héten hívta vissza washingtoni és canberrai nagykövetét, mert az Egyesült Államok, Ausztrália és Nagy-Britannia – Franciaország előzetes tájékoztatása nélkül – biztonsági partnerségi szerződést kötött AUKUS néven.
Ezzel összefüggésben pedig Ausztrália úgy döntött, hogy nukleáris meghajtású tengeralattjárókat vásárol az Egyesült Államoktól, egyúttal felmondja a Franciaországgal kötött, dízel- és elektromos meghajtású tengeralattjárók gyártásáról szóló szerződését. Emiatt Franciaország egy 56 milliárd dolláros szerződéstől esett el.
Jean-Yves Le Drian francia külügyminiszter korábban a londoni francia nagykövet visszahívását nem tartotta szükségesnek, mert szerinte „Nagy-Britannia ebben az ügyben csak az ötödik kerék a hintón”. „Jól ismerjük a britek opportunizmusát” – fogalmazott öt nappal ezelőtt a tárcavezető. Párizs ugyanakkor lemondta a két ország védelmi miniszterének erre a hétre tervezett találkozóját.
Boris Johnson egyébként szerdán jelezte, hogy az Egyesült Államok, Ausztrália és Nagy-Britannia között kötött biztonsági partnerségi szerződés nem kizárólagos, és „senkit nem kíván kiközösíteni”.
A London és Párizs közötti kétoldalú viszonyt az elmúlt hónapokban több, a Brexithez köthető kérdés is megterhelte, többek között a halászhajók kérdése és a francia partokról a La Manche-csatornán át Angliába igyekvő illegális bevándorlóknak a London szerint nem kielégítő feltartóztatásának problémája.
