Az Európai Bizottság felszólítja az uniós országokat, hogy fokozzák részvételüket az afganisztáni menekültek evakuálásában. Afganisztán tálibok általi elfoglalását követően a nők különös veszélyben vannak, számolt be az Európai Bizottság sajtószolgálata.
Ilva Johansson, az EU belügyi biztosa elmondása szerint az Európai Bizottság az afganisztáni menekültek befogadására vonatkozó kvóták emelését szorgalmazza.
„Nyilvánvaló számomra, hogy az afgán nők és lányok különösen veszélyes helyzetben vannak: az áttelepítés prioritása mindenképpen dzsender jelleggel is rendelkezik” – tette hozzá Johansson.
Az Európai Bizottság a maga részéről ígéretet tett, hogy segíti az uniós országok közötti koordinációt és biztosítja a szükséges pénzügyi segítséget.
