Josep Borrell, az Európai Unió külügyi főképviselője kijelentette, hogy a pápa azzal, hogy Ukrajna „fehér zászlójáról” beszélt, „olyan kertbe lépett, ahová senki sem hívta” – számolt be az rbc.ua hírportál a fődiplomata RTVE spanyol tévécsatornának adott interjújára hivatkozva.
A jelentés szerint Borrell a pápa szavait kommentálva megjegyezte, hogy a hét elején az ENSZ Biztonsági Tanácsában tartott beszédében röviden érintette azokat. „És ebben a beszédben én sem szégyelltem azt mondani, hogy Őszentsége, a pápa olyan kertbe lépett, ahová senki sem hívta” – mutatott rá.
Az EU fődiplomatája a kijelentése során egy spanyol idiómát használt, ami azt jelenti, hogy „bajt hoz magára”. Hozzátette: nem tartja helyesnek, hogy „megadásra hívják fel Ukrajnát”. „Épp ellenkezőleg, itt az ideje, hogy továbbra is segítsünk neki” – hangsúlyozta Josep Borrel.

Olaf Scholz német kancellár „Putyin háborújának” nevezte az oroszok Ukrajna elleni széles körű invázióját, miközben Oroszország lakosságának többsége támogatja a háborút, és örül minden rakétacsapásnak – írta csütörtökön Dmitro Kuleba külügyminiszter a Twitteren, közölte az rbc.ua hírportál.
A jelentés szerint az ukrán diplomácia vezetőjének felháborodását az váltotta ki, hogy Scholz „Putyin háborújának” nevezte Oroszország Ukrajna elleni invázióját, és ezzel indokolva ellenezte a vízumok megtagadását az oroszoktól és kitiltásukat az Európai Unió civilizált országaiból. A német kancellár ráadásul azt is mondta, hogy nem Oroszország egyszerű állampolgárainak a háborúja, ami Ukrajnában folyik. Olaf Scholz szerint az oroszok elleni büntetőintézkedések csak gyengítik a moszkvai döntéshozó központ embereivel szembeni szankciókat.

I call on all EU and G7 states to stop issuing visas to Russians. President @ZelenskyyUa is absolutely right to insist on this. Russians overwhelmingly support the war on Ukraine. They must be deprived of the right to cross international borders until they learn to respect them.
