 Az államfő a médiának nyilatkozva elmondta, hogy az orosz hadgyakorlat kérdését megvizsgálta és megvitatta a hadseregparancsnokkal, a vezérkari főnökség és a Védelmi Minisztérium képviselőivel. „Készen állunk erre a kérdésre, semmitől nem félünk, teljesen fel vagyunk készülve” – hangoztatta.
 Oroszország nagyszabású hadgyakorlatba kezd szeptember 20-án Kaukázus–2020 elnevezéssel. Az orosz katonai parancsnokság már a Krímbe érkezett, hogy ellenőrizze a Fekete-tengeri Flotta felkészültségét a Kaukázus–2020 hadgyakorlatra.
