Feszültséget okoz Ukrajna és Nagy-Britannia között, hogy a brit rendőrségnek a terrorellenes küzdelemhez kapcsolódó egyik kiadványában a szélsőjobboldali szervezetek jelképei között felsorolták az ukrán állam címerét is.
Vadim Prisztajko ukrán külügyminiszter kedden a Twitteren felszólította a brit felet, hogy távolítsák el az ukrán címert a brosúrából.
Bejegyzésében rámutatott: miután Londonban kifejezték sajnálatukat az eset miatt, eljött az ideje annak, hogy megvizsgálják a tájékoztató segédanyagot, és eltávolítsák onnan az ukrán címert, amely „nem oda való”.
Előzőleg Ukrajna londoni nagykövetsége is nemtetszését fejezte ki a Twitteren amiatt, hogy továbbra sem kaptak választ arra: mikor távolítják el a címert a szóban forgó füzetecskéből.
Ukrán hírportálok a napokban adtak hírt arról, hogy a brit rendőrség egy tájékoztatóanyagot adott ki egészségügyi intézményeknek, amelyekben számos szélsőséges szervezet szimbólumait sorolta fel, elsősorban azzal a céllal, hogy az egészségügyi dolgozók felismerjék az ilyen tetoválásokat.
Az ukrán állami jelkép, az úgynevezett „trizub”, azaz háromágú szigony egy neonáci jelkép után következik, azzal a megjegyzéssel, hogy „nacionalista” szimbólum.
A segédanyagot a The Guardian című brit lap hozta nyilvánosságra a múlt héten. Kiderült, hogy nemcsak az ukrán címer, de a Donyec-medencei konfliktusban ukrán oldalon részt vevő, az ukrán belügyminisztériumhoz tartozó Azov ezred, illetve a Greenpeace természetvédő szervezet jelképei is bekerültek a brosúrába mint szélsőséges szervezetek szimbólumai.
Az ukrán nagykövetség még múlt vasárnap nyomatékosan megkérte a brit hatóságokat, hogy távolítsák el a kiadványukból Ukrajna hivatalos címerét. Majd hétfőn már az ukrán külügyminisztérium adott ki közleményt, amelyben kifejtette: „Ukrajna állami címere a Kijevi Rusz idejéből származik, és az ukránok egységének egyik szimbóluma. Az (ukrán) nyilvánosság és a hatóságok széles körben használják. Az ukrán állami jelkép és a szélsőségesség bármilyen összekapcsolása sérti emberek millióinak érzéseit Ukrajnában és külföldön egyaránt.”
A brit kormány válaszában biztosította az ukrán felet, hogy nem állt szándékában megsérteni Ukrajnát, mindazonáltal elismerte, hogy valóban sértő, ami a címerükkel történt. Bocsánatot azonban nem kértek az incidens miatt.
