Az Egyesült Államok külügyminisztere a Kelet-Ukrajnában működő, „törvénytelen hatóságok” által letartóztatott külföldi állampolgárok miatti aggodalmát fejezte ki szombati Twitter-bejegyzésében.
Antony Blinken azt írta, hogy értesüléseik szerint az orosz erők által elfoglalt kelet-ukrajnai térségben „törvénytelen hatóságok” brit, svéd és horvát állampolgárokat tartóztattak le.
Blinken leszögezte: Oroszországnak és „csatlósainak” is kötelességük tiszteletben tartani a nemzetközi humanitárius jogokat, amelyekbe a hadifoglyok jogai és az őket illető védelem is beletartozik.
Volodimir Zelenszkij ukrán elnök ezzel egyidejűleg felszólította az Európai Unió tagállamait, hogy tiltsák be turistavízum kiadását orosz állampolgároknak. Hangsúlyozta ugyanakkor, hogy a tilalom nem terjedne ki azokra az orosz állampolgárokra, akik segítségre szorulnak a jelenlegi orosz vezetés politikája miatt.
