Az Oroszország és Ukrajna közötti közvetlen tárgyalások felújításának lehetőségét is megvitatta a Kremlben Vlagyimir Putyin orosz államfő és Steven Witkoff, az amerikai elnök különmegbízottja – közölte Jurij Usakov, az orosz vezető külpolitikai tanácsadója pénteken újságírókkal.
Usakov szerint a háromórás megbeszélés lehetőséget nyújtott arra, hogy a Oroszország és az Egyesült Államok álláspontja nemcsak Ukrajna, de egy sor más nemzetközi kérdésben is tovább közeledjen egymáshoz.
Szimbolikus jelentőségűnek nevezte, hogy a pénteki találkozó a szovjet és amerikai csapatok Elba menti történelmi találkozójának 80. évfordulóján történt, amely a két ország harci szövetségét jelképezte a nácizmus elleni küzdelemben.
Usakov azt hangoztatta, hogy Oroszország és az Egyesült Államok közötti gyümölcsöző párbeszéd a legaktívabb módon folytatódik. Putyin és Witkoff találkozója, amelyen Usakov mellett Kirill Dmitrijev, a külfölddel folytatott beruházási és gazdasági együttműködésért felelős orosz elnöki megbízott is részt vett, a Kreml tisztségviselője szerint konstruktív és hasznos volt.
Két hét alatt ez volt a második találkozó Putyin és Witkoff között, és a negyedik az év eleje óta.
