Az Európai Unió 2,5 milliárd euró értékben nyújtott támogatást az ukrán hadseregnek fegyverek és katonai felszerelések vásárlására – jelentette be pénteken az ukrán fegyveres erők vezérkara hivatalos Facebook-oldalán, számolt be az rbc.ua hírportál.






A közlemény szerint a vezérkar azt írta, hogy „nem szokás sokat beszélni a fegyver- és lőszertámogatásról. De az Európai Uniótól származó finanszírozásnak megfelelő 2,5 milliárd eurós összeg is ékesszólóan bizonyítja ennek a támogatásnak a fontosságát.” A fegyveres erők, a Belügyminisztérium, a Nemzeti Rendőrség, a Főügyészség és az Igazságügyi Minisztérium munkatársai golyóálló mellényeket, elsősegélydobozokat, szállítóeszközöket, egyéb felszereléseket és szoftvereket kapnak.



„Ugyanakkor figyelemre méltó, hogy az Európai Unió története során először finanszírozta halált okozó fegyverek szállítását egy olyan ország számára, amelyet megtámadtak” – mutatott rá a vezérkar.



A hírportál emlékeztetett arra, hogy októberben megalakulhat az Európai Unió katonai kiképzőmissziója. Olaf Scholz német szövetségi kancellár azt javasolta, hogy Ukrajna megsegítésének feladatát osszák meg országok között. Később ismertté vált, hogy az USA egy új, 1 milliárd dollár értékű katonai támogatást biztosít Ukrajnának.
