A petíció az amerikai alkotmány első és második kiegészítését, a szólászabadságról és a fegyvertartás jogáról szóló részeket “támogatja”, valójában azonban inkább arról van szó, hogy a Trump mellett kampányoló Musk így akarja mozgosítani és regisztrációra bíztatni a republikánus szavazókat. Az NBC beszámolója szerint a regisztrált pennsylvaniai választók 100 dollárt kapnak a petíció aláírásáért.
 Egy Trumpot támogató pennsylvaniai eseményen Musk már át is adta az első nyertesnek szóló egymillió dolláros csekket. A nyertes egy John Dreher nevű férfi volt. “Egyébként, Johnnak fogalma sem volt róla. Szóval, szívesen” – mondta a Tesla alapítója, miközben átadta Drehernek a csekket.
 A harrisburgi rendezvényen a korábban még a demokratákat támogató Musk felvázolta a novemberi választás tétjét. Szerinte ugyanis ha a demokrata jelölt, Kamala Harris nyer, akkor „ez lesz az utolsó választás”, az Egyesült Államok többé nem fog létezni.
