Az amerikai védelmi minisztérium közlése szerint Ukrajna a nagy hatótávolságú ATACMS rakétákat a Krím és orosz katonai vezetési központok elleni támadások végrehajtásához kapja – közölte az rbc.ua hírportál a The New York Times című amerikai lapra hivatkozva.
A jelentés szerint az újságnak az amerikai védelmi minisztérium egyik magas rangú tisztviselője elmondta, hogy az új nagy hatótávolságú rendszerek célja, hogy növeljék a nyomást a Krím-félszigetre, az orosz légi- és szárazföldi erők központjaira, „ahol Oroszországnak jelenleg viszonylagos biztonsága van”.
A Pentagon képviselője azonban nem volt hajlandó megnevezni az Ukrajnába küldött nagy hatótávolságú rendszerek pontos számát.
