A kijevi diplomácia vezetője szerint az ukrán fél szeretné szorosabbra fűzni az együttműködést a brit hadvezetéssel, és vizsgálja angol deszantosok ukrajnai állomásoztatásának a lehetőségét. „Ha a brit katonák ott (Mikolajiv megyében) deszantolnak és maradnak, mi ezt egyáltalán nem fogjuk ellenezni” – tette hozzá, megjegyezve, hogy Britannia az orosz agresszió első napjától fogva Ukrajna mellett volt, gyakorlati támogatást nyújtott, és nem csak katonai téren.
Kuleba azt is közölte, hogy Kijev és London komolyan együttműködik számos kérdésben. Britannia alapos munkát folytat attól függetlenül, hogy London nem vesz részt a donbászi konfliktus rendezésére létrehozott tárgyalócsoportban – fejezte ki elismerését az angol félnek a külügyi tárcavezető.

Washington elítéli a külföldi katonai jelenlétet Líbiában – jelentette ki kedden este közzétett közleményében Robert O’Brien amerikai nemzetbiztonsági tanácsadó.
„Az Egyesült Államokat mélyen aggasztja a szélesedő konfliktus Líbiában. Határozottan ellenezzük külföldi katonai erők, beleértve zsoldosok és szerződéses magánhadsereg tagjainak részvételét” – fogalmazott a közleményben a nemzetbiztonsági tanácsadó. Leszögezte azt is, hogy több ország erőpróbája Líbiában „súlyos fenyegetést jelent a regionális biztonságra és a világkereskedelemre”.
O’Brien, aki koronavírus-fertőzése után kedden tért vissza a Fehér Házba, tudatta azt is, hogy Donald Trump amerikai elnök nemrégiben több, a líbiai konfliktusban érintett ország képviselőjével is megbeszélést folytatott. Hozzáfűzte, hogy a líbiaiak csakis úgy kerülhetnek ki győztesen, ha „összefognak szuverenitásuk visszaszerzése és az egységes ország újraépítése érdekében”.
Líbiában Törökország jelen van haderővel, Oroszország pedig – amerikai állítások szerint – egyre több fegyvert, légvédelmi rendszert és zsoldost szállít oda, hogy megvethesse lábát a stratégiai jelentőségű térségben, és hogy befolyásolhassa ezáltal az egymással szembenálló felek közötti harcok végkimenetelét.
Törökország a Tripoliban székelő, nemzetközileg elismert egységkormánynak nyújt katonai támogatást. Tripoli ellenlábasa, a Halífa Haftar vezette Líbiai Nemzeti Hadsereg (LNH) az ország keleti és déli felét uralja. A tobruki központú parlamentre támaszkodó Haftar tábornok Oroszország, Egyiptom és az Egyesült Arab Emírségek támogatását élvezi.

Donald Trump amerikai elnök bejelentette szerdán a lengyel kollégájával, Andrzej Dudával folytatott washingtoni tárgyalásai után, hogy védelmi együttműködésről szóló megállapodást írtak alá – adta hírül az MTI.
A Fehér Ház Rózsakertjében tartott nemzetközi sajtótájékoztatón az amerikai elnök emlékeztetett rá, hogy a két ország már tavaly szándéknyilatkozatot írt alá a biztonsági együttműködés erősítéséről, a megállapodás aláírása ennek logikus következménye. Ugyanakkor sem ő, sem a lengyel elnök nem részletezte a megállapodás konkrétumait, és azt sem, hogy mikor írják alá.
Duda, akinek személyében a koronavírus-járvány kitörése óta az első külföldi vezető tett látogatást a Fehér Házban, üdvözölte a bejelentést, és mind az európai biztonság, mind Lengyelország nemzetbiztonsága szempontjából nagyon fontosnak minősítette a majdani egyezményt. A lengyel államfő bejelentette azt is, hogy várhatóan a korábban jelzettnél több amerikai katonát telepítenek lengyel földre.
A két ország biztonsági együttműködéséről szólva Duda úgy fogalmazott: „ma új szakaszba léptünk, nevezetesen megnyílt a lehetőség arra, hogy több amerikai katona érkezzék országunkba”.
Donald Trump kiemelte, hogy lengyel kérésre növelik meg az amerikai katonák létszámát, és nem kizárt, hogy Németországból irányítanak át fegyvereseket.
Arra az újságírói kérdésre, amely azt firtatta, hogy vajon a lengyelországi amerikai katonai jelenlét erősítése értékelhető-e Oroszországnak küldött jelzésként, Trump igennel válaszolt.
„Azt hiszem, hogy ezzel nagyon erős jelzést küldünk Oroszországnak” – fogalmazott.
Trump ismételten megerősítette, hogy az Egyesült Államok csökkenti a Németországban állomásozó katonáinak a létszámát, mert – úgy fogalmazott – az ottani állomásoztatással Washington túl nagy anyagi terheket visel.
Bírálta Berlint az oroszországi energiavásárlásaiért, és megjegyezte: „Németország dollármilliárdokat fizet Oroszországnak energiáért. Megkérdezem: miről is van szó? Ha dollármilliárdokat fizetnek Oroszországnak, akkor nekünk kell megvédenünk őket Oroszországtól? Hát, ez igencsak rossz!”
