Ursula von der Leyen, az Európai Bizottság elnöke Kijevben járva arról beszélt, hogy az Oroszország elleni uniós szankcióknak mélyreható és látható hatásuk van. Az uniós szankciókról szólva hozzáfűzte: „Mindent megteszünk, hogy Putyin megfizessen mindazért, amit tesz és hadikasszája lassan, de biztosan elapadjon”.
A kibontakozó energia- és megélhetési válság Ukrajna támogatására gyakorolt hatását firtató kérdésre von der Leyen azzal felelt, hogy „magas ára van Ukrajna támogatásának, de szabadságunk, a nemzetközi békerend és a demokrácia megfizethetetlen”.
Csütörtök este a kereskedelmi Bild TV német televíziónak adott interjújában pedig arról beszélt, hogy el tudja képzelni, hogy a Nemzetközi Büntetőbíróságon indul majd eljárás Vlagyimir Putyin orosz elnök ellen. „Lehetségesnek tartom” – mondta. A bizottsági elnök egyben felkérte az európai államokat, hogy nyugati harckocsikat is szállítsanak Ukrajnának.
Úgy fogalmazott, hogy kétség kívül a legsúlyosabb háborús bűncselekményeket követték el Ukrajnában. „Ezért támogatjuk a bizonyítékok gyűjtését, hogy lehetővé váljanak eljárások a Nemzetközi Büntetőbíróságon. Ezen bűncselekmények megtorlása képezi alapját a közös nemzetközi jogrendünknek. És végtére Putyin felelős ezekért” – hangoztatta von der Leyen.
„Fontos számomra, hogy Putyin elveszítse ezt a háborút és felelősségre vonják tetteiért” – jelentette ki von der Leyen.
„Ha azt mondják, harckocsik kellenek nekik, akkor ezt komolyan kell vennünk, és ezt kell nekik szállítanunk. Az ukránok bebizonyították, hogy a megfelelő katonai eszközök birtokában meg tudják védeni magukat” – mondta.

Dmitro Kuleba külügyminiszter úgy véli, hogy Putyin „eltávolítása” önmagában megállíthatja Oroszország Ukrajna elleni háborúját, de ezzel nem áll helyre a biztonsági rendszer – adta hírül a Jevropejszka Pravda hírportál vasárnap egy politikai konferenciára hivatkozva.
A jelentés szerint az Egyesült Államokban folyó Renew Democracy Initiative konferencián felszólalva az ukrán diplomácia vezetője azt mondta, hogy szerinte az Ukrajna elleni háború kirobbantása az agresszor állam elnökének személyes döntése. „Úgy gondolom, hogy ez a háború valóban Putyin elnök döntése” – tette hozzá.
Kérdésekre válaszolva a miniszter azt is elmondta, hogy Putyin elnökségének a megszűnése – anélkül, hogy pontosan meghatározta volna, hogy ez miként történhet meg – a háború végét jelentené. „Úgy gondolom, hogy Putyin eltávolítása elegendő lesz a háború megállításához, de az euroatlanti térség békéjének és biztonságának a helyreállításához nemcsak Putyin elmozdítása, hanem Oroszország putyintalanítására is szükség lesz” – mutatott rá.
A külügyér úgy vélte, hogy Oroszország radikális változás előtt áll az Ukrajna elleni háborúban elszenvedett veresége után. „Putyin nemcsak egy személy, hanem egy rendszer. Oroszországot putyintalanítani kell” – összegezte Dmitro Kuleba.
