 A jelentés szerint Dombrovskis azt írta: „azért jöttem Kijevbe, hogy megvitassuk az Európai Unió Ukrajnának nyújtott támogatását, és hogy a rendkívüli pénzügyi támogatásra és a 2023-as terveinkre összpontosítsunk.”
 Az európai politikus azt is jelezte, hogy Kijevben találkozik Volodimir Zelenszkij elnökkel és Denisz Smihal miniszterelnökkel. Mint jelezte, azt tervezi, hogy az Európai Unió és Ukrajna közötti szorosabb gazdasági integráció konkrét lépéseiről tárgyal az ukrán vezetéssel.
 Mint hírportálunk február 3-án beszámolt róla, Valdis Dombrovskis kijelentette, hogy az Európai Unióban még nincs kitűzött dátuma Ukrajna belépésének, egyelőre még az EU-Ukrajna társulási szerződésben rejlő lehetőségek kihasználásán kell dolgozni. Hozzátette: „bizonyos értelemben a társulási megállapodás végrehajtása nyitja meg az utat a következő lehetséges lépések előtt.”
