 A bolgár csatorna jelentése szerint Zelenszkij 12 óra 4 perckor landolt Szófiában a bolgár kormány repülőgépével. „Alapos tárgyalásokat folytatok Nyikolaj Denkov miniszterelnökkel, találkozom Rumen Radev elnökkel, kormánytisztviselőkkel, parlamenti képviselőkkel, politikusokkal és újságírókkal” – írta bejegyzésében Volodimir Zelenszkij.
 Az ukrán elnöki látogatás során a felek megvitatják az Ukrajnának nyújtott bolgár védelmi támogatást, az ukrán euroatlanti integrációt, a NATO-csúcsot, a biztonsági garanciákat és a békeképlet megvalósítását.
 A bolgár média július 4-én számolt be Ukrajna elnökének lehetséges bulgáriai látogatásáról, amelyre az ország új kormánya hívta meg. Másnap Todor Tagarev bolgár védelmi miniszter megerősítette Zelenszkij látogatását, és bocsánatot kért, amiért információkat szivárogtatott ki a médiának.
